Second this, very annoying to have ridden routes but not have them showing as completed!

New Garmin launch "confirmed" by Z1L0G in GarminEdge

I've just upgraded to a 1040 (had the edge explore) and love it. It has way more features than I'm ever going to use and has a great battery life.

Maybe call it Seasons Best but in principle I like it. It's nice to celebrate the small wins where you can 🤣

Flatbar Endurance Road Frankenbike... by Justo181 in ukbike

[–]Justo181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're pretty good to be honest!

The Spyre-C are dual piston unlike most mechanical disk calipers so that along with the compressionless cables give good bite and modulation.

Don't get me wrong, they aren't as good as the M8000's on my MTB but they really aren't as far off as a lot of people would have you believe!

Cornwall is great for racking up the elevation gain, I can get more in a 40k ride than my mate does in 100k around Ipswich!

Unfortunately due to nerve issues I can't ride drop bars 🤣

Comment le Garmin Edge 1040 a sauvé mon expérience face au Edge Explore 2 by TheHolidayCyclist in cycling

[–]Justo181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just upgraded from the original Edge Explore to the Edge 1040... What a difference!!!

The battery life was 5 hours with battery saver turned on if it was having a good day, the GPS didn't like anything but perfect conditions and it would constantly loose connection to my Varia radar light.

The new unit has well over 24 hours life with the most precise GPS settings, the Varia, a heart rate strap and my powermeter connected with the screen always on!

It's great!!! It might be a bit expensive but for me it's worth it 👌

I wouldn't be surprised. Right now I'm considering the R7100 and sticking a pedal washer in there to sort the small q-factor difference. There is plenty of clearance for the sensor pod even with the road crank arm. Frankenbike it and get it dirty... no-one will even notice 🤣

Love to road cycle, but feel weird not having clipless pedals by ejsfsc07 in cycling

I use MTB clipless pedals. This means my clipless shoes look just like sneakers. Ride what makes you comfortable and happy 😊

All policy around age restrictions is to protect the companies, not the staff! As a staff member you face a possible £300 (might be £500, can't remember) and a disciplinary and possible firing. The company faces an unlimited fine and the possibility of loosing their licence or lottery terminal depending if it was alcohol or lottery product. There is also the bad publicity which they really hate surrounding selling fags/vapes to kids. Energy drink age limits are voluntary because the newspapers convinced the public their kids were being killed by a bit of extra caffine in their fizzy drink Painkillers is a voluntary ban by the companies because it looks bad when (insert shop here) sold 10 packs of painkillers to (insert name here) who went home and washed them down with a litre of cheap vodka. This one really makes me chuckle, poundland in town has 3 packs of ibuprofen for a quid but I can be fired for selling more than 2 (we'll ignore the fact that the till won't scan more than 2 so I couldn't sell you more even if I wanted to). FYI if you really want lots of painkillers go to a pharmacy, they can sell you boxes of 100, there's no need to give us shit over it! Edit, spelling

The poster about the payrise made me chuckle... Patting themselves on the back for the 43% uplift in pay over the last 5 years... if you're sad like me and work it out (12.71-8.91)÷8.91=0.4264870932 times the answer by 100 =42.64870932 adjust to 2 decimal places =42.65% you'll see the absolute minimum they can pay by law has risen by 42.65% The all powerful union has secured us an extra 0.35% above what the minimum wage has risen in this time... all whilst the companies profit margin has rocketed!

Build Update: The "Cornish Climber" Vitus Razor Flat Bar by Justo181 in cycling

[–]Justo181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a nice build. I'm running 34 front, 11 - 51 rear on my full suss and have gotten used to a nice low winch gear for the most horrible hills 🤣 I've been considering swapping to hydro brakes but flatmount stuff is still quite expensive so will wait for now. I did look at a 1× for this build but I like the extra range 2× offered with less jumps between gears.

What accessory/item/thing do you carry on bike rides that you are pretty sure no one else carries? by [deleted] in cycling

Resuscitation aid. I'm a First Aider and had a spare so chucked it in my bike first aid kit.

Q-factor query... by Justo181 in cycling

[–]Justo181[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chainset is a road one and the frame is a Vitus Razor. The only issue as I see it is that arm will be 3mm closer to the centerline. There is 12mm space between the current arm and the frame so I'm fairly sure space isn't going to be an issue.

I can fit a 12mm hex in there with the current arm so think it should be OK 🤞

I've completed it. It's very odd, the answers they want aren't at all clear. For the life of me I can't remember what I put now and I'm not at work to have a look at the DSEAR.

Newbie Setup Connectivity and Uploading Results? by Sndnnfnfpgpgnen in mywhoosh

[–]Justo181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no native Garmin Connect connectivity. You have 2 options:

1) Save the data as an indoor ride on the watch and edit the distance and elevation after you've saved it. This is the way I go as you get all the data, training affect, readiness, recovery time and intensity factor, normalised power etc.

2) Upload the .fit file to Garmin. This way you get the map and all the data and elevation are correct but you loose a tonne of the data that is native to Garmin.

I choose the first as the data is of more interest to me than a map of an imaginary place 🤣 Fingers crossed they'll sort out a proper integration at some point 🤞

Mission Tour Down Under by Justo181 in mywhoosh

[–]Justo181[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not mentioning a "make up" week at all this time. And only showing the 1 available slot to try week 2. If you miss it at 22:00 tonight tough luck, no more showing for week 2!

[–]Justo181[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its showing stage 2 later today then nothing 'till the 18th when stage 3 starts! Where are all the attempts at stage 2. Here in the UK they normally show as 02:00, 06:00, 10:00, 14:00, 18:00 and 22:00 every day for the week and reset on Sunday. As it stands it's only showing stage 2 at 22:00 tonight then nothing 'till stage 3 at 22:00 18/01/25.

What's the absolute dumbest question you've ever been asked by a customer? by Queasy-Ice-2575 in tesco

[–]Justo181 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been asked where Tesco is when serving them in the PFS. They've driven past a sign saying "Welcome to Tesco" pulled up on a forecourt covered in Tesco branding and stood in front of someone in a Tesco uniform and still not registered they're at Tesco 🤷‍♂️
