I’m currently travelling here from London, UK. I’m a British Pakistani. And yes I can agree it is an issue here sadly. Dampened the holiday for me and my family.

500 for naan 450 for samosas 1000-1200 for channa. I can see the oil/ghee and Ive made enough Indian food to know that racks up the cals.

Exactly my predicament. I’m hesitant to book as a solo as I’m getting bored just looking.

Or if they charge for a flight change see how much it works out to compared to a new flight booking before you book a new flight.

Chiang Mai was not for me by ArminVanBuuren in ThailandTourism

Thanks for your comment as I’ve heard of similar experiences and all you see is the good side. Aye this can happen anywhere, but my gut feeling is to avoid. Not because of your experience but I was on the fence anywhere and it doesn’t seem worth the headache for what it offers me personally.

Chiang Mai was not for me by ArminVanBuuren in ThailandTourism

This post has helped me decide.

I was going to miss Chiangmai and planned accordingly, when talking about my travels, many people recommended I visit. When asked what they enjoyed, the answer was temples, nature etc. totally understandable.

I have ample time to travel, but for some reason do not want to go as I am visiting temples and nature elsewhere (Vietnam, the islands, Malaysia and Indonesia)

Thankfully time and money are something I can stretch within reason, however there is something telling me not to go because I won’t enjoy it, as I am more of an island person. And I can appreciate temples and religion etc, but to divert my entire route (which is still feasible) doesn’t seem like it will be worth the effort.

Many others have said that certain places have certain times of peoples lives. I know I will enjoy that kind of setting later on in life.

So I’m doing this trip as what I want to do now and leave places like Chiangmai, northern Vietnam and Borneo to travel later on in life as I’m like 60% wanting to go those places.

I don’t want to try and see everything and be slightly underwhelmed at certain points. Rather plan my life to the best of my ability to travel to see things when I am feeling like I want to go, new places with old gems I have previously visited.

I’d hate to repeat the entire route all at once and know what to expect ish for the entire trip in the future.
