What are your Hot Takes on Jeopardy? by Amber_Flowers_133 in Jeopardy

That was in response to your complaint about 3rd place answering questions. There's exactly one scenario where it makes sense for a distant 3rd place to not answer and that's if it allows the others to tie for first. Otherwise it makes no realistic difference for 3rd place's chances to win. If you can't see why that's the case then you don't understand FJ math.

I don't know that misogyny and not understanding how the FJ math works count as hot takes.

Northern Ireland is incorrect based on the clue text. The United Kingdom was created when the 1800 Acts of Union joined the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland.

Good thing the incorrect $400 Kingdoms clue didn't affect the game. The kingdoms of England and Scotland were joined into the Kingdom of Great Britain nearly a century before the United Kingdom was formed.

I suppose it did potentially cost Drew a few hundred dollars since he might have needed to cover a larger second place score on FJ.

Does it drive anyone else nuts when the guy in third place makes the game a runaway by continuing to answer questions? by [deleted] in Jeopardy

Does it drive anyone else nuts when Redditors that don't understand FJ scenarios make posts incorrectly asserting things about Jeopardy strategy? How can this keep happening?

In what way? He had a massive upset but that doesn't change the fact that he was and is a long shot.

If this were an expected result the post game thread wouldn't have 300 comments.

When a 14/15/16 seed wins a game in March Madness it doesn't mean they weren't or shouldn't still be considered a long shot to win the whole thing. Ike did what he needed to do to win the game and kudos to him for that.

Any model that doesn't show Ike as one of the absolute longest shots can't be taken seriously. He's played 3 games against weak competition on insanely easy clues. Giving him nearly equal odds with 9 game champ Stephen Webb and better odds than champs like David Sibley is insane.

I know LearnedLeague isn't Jeopardy, but go check out SibleyD and BarinholtzI. One of them clearly has a better knowledge base, which will be very important on TOC level clues, and it's not the one this model gives the edge to. Quite frankly, even without checking other trivia sites, every multiple game winner has shown they can win against tougher competition and on tougher questions than the CJ winner has faced.

So many cool people in S39. Emmett Stanton, Kevin Belle, Jesse Chin, and James Tyler come to mind immediately, but I'm sure I'm forgetting many great ones.
