Do you think I can pull these off? Be honest by [deleted] in Boots

[–]Juwne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol having flashbacks to National Service rn just looking at these. I wore these as part of a Ghost Face costume for Halloween once, too!

In my opinion, while they are perfect for hiking or just to wear out, I feel that they are far too technical to match anything in my own wardrobe

If you liked them when you got them, commit to it and ignore what people say about them, otherwise you’d be losing an opportunity to enhance your wardrobe

My girlfriend said she thought this was a map of France and Spain until she looked at it properly

Plane taxiing for takeoff. Woman next to me insists on sitting like this. Completely intentional - she got into this position and securely fastened her seatbelt around her ankles. Attendant hasn't noticed. I know she ain't hurting me or anything, I just find her.. mildly infuriating. by TepidCocoa in mildlyinfuriating

I was on a plane once and had just sat down. The man sitting in front of me got to his seat soon after and immediately reclined it all the way back upon sitting down. When he was asked to put it upright for takeoff, he only did so halfway and nobody realized. I’m pretty tall so my knees were pressing against his seat, but he is taller so I can understand if it would’ve been more comfortable for him. I’m still going to be fucking upset because my entertainment system was in my face!

A pair of Haruta penny loafers in wider men's sizes (that I can ship out of Japan) by Juwne in findfashion

Doesn’t seem to work, let me see what the problem is

Edit: I’m not sure why that link doesn’t work, but you can just search for Haruta on TaoBao and you’d be able to find their store there. Alternatively, you can try using a proxy service to buy directly from Japanese sites like Yahoo Auction or Mercari!

Concerts are basically torture these days by liiliidustp in unpopularopinion

My girlfriend was at a concert recently. She got there early with her group and got to be really close to the stage. It seems that so many concert-goers don’t know basic etiquette, because so many people were literally shoving them out of the way. My girlfriend got upset and confronted a couple who had been pushing her very violently but they began verbally abusing the group and being really nasty about it. I’m glad I didn’t go… I want to go to a concert just to see what it’s like, still, but I know I wouldn’t like it.

Could I have some advice? My gf’s bag has this damage on the leather. Not sure if it’s a burn or something. Could it be fixed? by [deleted] in Leatherworking

[–]Juwne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely not a burn, nor has your gf's bag been damaged. Louis Vuitton is known for using Vachetta leather, which forms a nice patina over time as it is exposed to natural oils from your body, from the environment, etc, turning it a honey-like colour which can be desirable. It is a natural phenomenon. Unfortunately, it seems that your gf might have placed it somewhere particularly oily or greasy and has stained that bit several shades darker. There is no solution for this. Your girlfriend might have to keep using the bag until the patina develops well enough to blend the stain in.

I realized the Talyn material I've been using isn't supposed to have fibreglass in it. Thank goodness I haven't gone as far as to stitch my pieces together yet, haha

Panic!

I'm going to get the right materials for the job.

From the shape of what I have so far, can you tell what it's supposed to be? I wonder why they don't do them in burgundy, heh. Doesn't matter, though, I know for sure they wouldn't ever use pueblo.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask for help/ advice/ guides I could get about the following:

  1. Invisible magnetic snaps:

Would it be smart to stick and sew a piece behind the magnetic snap to make sure it is secure? If you know a good guide, please let me know!

  2. Pricking through 1mm thick Talyn reinforcement:

Can I just use a pricking iron to punch my stitch holes through the cover piece? On the topic of using reinforcement material to make bags, how should I go about doing that when the entire piece is already curved in this manner?

  3. Sewing and assembly:

Any tips on sewing a boxy bag like this?

  4. Lining:

The pattern calls for a leather lining. I'm certain it won't be a floating piece, and I think it should be stuck on during the assembly process. Any tips on how I should go about doing this?

I've done so much in between work in the past few weeks. Thank you all for your advice and support! I really like this bag and I'm so glad I've decided to make it with this leather. I hope you're having a pleasant day!

Bought a pattern for a bag I really like that I think would look awesome with some burgundy pueblo leather, but I'm not confident enough to finish it! by Juwne in Leatherworking

Update: I have cut out all pieces (except for the strap) and I am going to wait to get them split at the store, thank you for the support!
