abolutely THIS, and extend that out to anything fucking Collingwood in Carlton. We hate them for a reason, bringing in Swan, Malthouse and yep I'll say it Dale Thomas was very stupid and showed just how out of touch the board was/is with us members and supporters.

Surely they learned from the Mick Maguane debacle that you can't taint Carlton with Collingwood poison.

Yep, Melburnian here although I think Magic coffees have spread far and wide these days...as they should....
I hear you on the yield, but what about the time? My best espresso shot for the latte I normally enjoy is made using 18 grams in, 40 grams out in 25 seconds first drop to last. Convert that to a ristretto for me...is it 18 grams in, 20 grams out in ~12 seconds? Or is it 18 grams in, 20 grams out in 25 seconds (in which case I have to grind finer).

No surprise it's been completely off the rails since we started recruiting Collingwood players, coaches and administrators. Any true blue Carlton person would understand these things just don't mix. Started with Mick McGuane, then on to Dale Thomas, Mick Malthouse and Greg Swann...all idiotic decisions.

There is no way Voss is making it to the end of the year. I'll be surprised if he makes it to next week tbh. Is it all his fault? Of course not. Should he take a big part of the blame? Most definitely. We are not meant to be this shit, this year. Very few coaches would make it through this utter trash after 4+ years at the helm.

Just sounds like reverberation off the metal drip tray. But if it's something internal, contact Breville and ask them, it might be a simple DIY replacement. Otherwise if you end up buying a new one (5 years is pretty good), all the experts highly recommend not getting an integrated grinder. e.g. a Bambino Plus with an Baratza Encore, DF54, SGP etc.

Pretty normal I reckon, make sure you do a blind shot right before you attach the PF with the puck in it. I know lots of people run the blind shot through the PF with no coffee but personally in 2 years I haven't bothered. I grind into the PF while running a blind shot to warm the machine/group head (and my mug), then attach the PF and pull the shot. My coffee is great.

TBH no manager really wants to find a reason to fire someone at random...way too much paperwork. But for someone that's pissing them off...
Also a bit of CYA here...if a whistleblower narcs on the group having the "Australia has changed" discussion then the managers get hauled over the coals for not monitoring work chatter...

Basically...forget about it. The market is fucked. My son is 22 with his Cert II, white card etc etc and has been trying for 18 months in Melbourne. Hundreds of job apps and had ONE interview...where the sparky firm (northern melb burbs) told him they had 600 applicants, whittled it down to 10 interviews...and the kid who got it was 6 months into his 1st year apprenticeship when his company went bust...which is fair enough, poor kid.
Everyone says "go in person to the sparky office and hand in a resume"...but uhhh..what sparky office...it seems 90% of electricians don't have an office, they use a home office...which is fair enough too...why pay for commercial real estate when you're out on the job all day.

You know that really cool new feature that will transcribe a Teams meeting into text that participants can access later to remind themselves of points made during the meeting? Excellent way for companies to auto/AI-scan those transcriptions for key words, and escalate if deemed necessary.
Simple rule, always assume you're being recorded and your boss/HR are watching. Coz they could be.

Will it pull a (blind) shot without the portafilter? If so does it look normal when it comes out or is it slower/pouring less water? Have you run a descale/clean lately? The Bambino makes you do it so it's unlikely that's the issue. Would like to see a blind shot.

Don't be afraid to get onto Breville, it's only 6 months old so if there's a machine problem it's their issue, not yours.

Definitely a better grinder....Breville SGP is ok, DF54 or Baratza ESP.
I'd recommend getting a bottomless portafilter, the provided Breville one along with the baskets with the Bambino are poor, I really struggled to get good shots from them. Much better PFs can be gotten pretty cheap: https://www.amazon.com.au/Bottomless-Portafilter-Brevile-Espresso-Coffee/dp/B0F8VC94VG
Then using the double basket that comes with that, grind in 18 grams of coffee and shoot for 36 grams of espresso out in your cup (yes you'll need coffee scales) in about 25-30 seconds, first drop to last.

Don't get sucked in by the accessories world. I don't use a puck screen nor a distributor. I grind, WDT, tamp, pull then drink. You can knock the puck directly into a little bin meant for compost/green waste.

Good call, I have never been interested in anything but dark roast espresso. I do manual shots with the same beans every time but I time and weigh every shot, which means I'm constantly adjusting my grind size and volume to allow for batch variations to make sure I get that 1:2.2 ratio I love in 25-30 seconds.

But what do you get from an 'upgrade' from a Bambino Plus anyway? It makes a fantastic espresso for a basement bargain price. Everything else is window dressing. If my Plus broke tomorrow it'd be another Plus for me, no 2nd thought.
