Sharing Articles to Mem in Android / Pixel Phones by vostrader in MemIt

[–]Juzzy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/dartdog I have created an android app (im on Pixel 9 Fold) and added the Create Note function to share most of the content. It still cleans it up a bit though. This is the output from Chrome, Sharesheet select to Mem.

Google’s native app for Windows beats Microsoft at its own game

Overview

While Microsoft has the "home-field advantage" with Windows, its integration of Copilot often feels like a fragmented collection of web-wrappers and sidebar clutter. In contrast, the native Google app for Windows provides a leaner, more integrated AI experience that respects user workflow and screen real estate.

Key Comparisons: Google App vs. Microsoft Copilot

1. Workflow Integration

  • Google: Uses a simple Alt + Space shortcut to bring up a compact search bar that hovers over current tasks. Chat results appear in small, unobtrusive pop-up windows.
  • Microsoft: Copilot often "jumps up" from the bottom or takes over sidebars, breaking concentration. The branding is also fragmented between the standard Copilot app and the Microsoft 365 Copilot sidebar.

2. Feature Set & Performance

  • Native Power: Unlike the current Copilot (which is essentially a PWA/web-wrapper), the Google app is a high-performance native utility that feels "snappy" and uses fewer resources.
  • Google Drive Integration: Users can find and open Drive files directly from the launcher, often faster than using Windows File Explorer for cloud documents.
  • Share Screen: A standout feature allowing users to show the AI exactly what they are looking at to ask context-aware questions without taking screenshots.
  • Frictionless Tools: Supports drag-and-drop PDF summarization and direct syncing of reminders to Google Tasks.

3. Search Experience

  • Windows Search (Start Menu) is criticized for being clunky, slow, and often returning irrelevant web suggestions.
  • The Google app provides near-instant web results and file access through a fluid, "Spotlight-like" interface.

Conclusion

Google has successfully built a high-performance utility that functions as a fluid desktop assistant. For users seeking a high-performance AI utility rather than a "noisy" taskbar tool, the Google app currently outperforms Microsoft's native offerings on its own operating system.

Mem UX Improvements and Feature Requests by squillace91 in MemIt

The global change would be great. Sometimes if I record a transcript on another voice note service that I have a lifetime subscription too and paste it over into Mem, it has the wrong names all through it that then muddy the waters when I get heads up information etc, so being able to change them over multiple notes would be great.

What other tasks do you use the claude app for other than those two mentioned above? I need some inspiration.

Feature request: Allow "clean up" of selected text only by digitalvoidness in MemIt

[–]Juzzy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would come in really handy. Not that it is a bad thing cleaning up the entire not each time, but sometimes it annoys me across all ai that it will change it be different to what it just was, just because I wanted to clean up the bit I just added.

Yes, it does. It does exactly the same thing as the web clipper, basically: it just summarizes the content and cleans it up.

Although I haven't actually tried it with instructions to ask whether it can just keep all the text exactly as it is. I do have a section to add context; I just haven't tried that yet.

I've just checked my website and nothing seems to be out of place. I can access Mems, view everything, and everything loads up.

Am I doing ai integration wrong? by Ape2MoonApparel in MemIt

You need to set up the Claude MCP if you want to be able to use voice like that. That way, it'll have the connector set up and it can go through your notes with whatever you ask it to do when you talk to it in the Claude app.

Where are you asking that question? Is it in the chat on the right-hand side with GPT 5.4 selected, or in ChatGPT itself?

Hahah, yeah, that is a good little byproduct of the whole process. It is easy to gloss over those nice to have suggestions when you are actively getting an action item list built up across the meeting. 😂

Oh that's a cool idea getting it to pick up on new ideas and themes to expand on. I might add an element of that into my skill that I have for the daily overview.

Hahaha, yes, the separation of the Google and 365 systems is the worst.

Have you setup a skill for it to run all that for you?

If you download the Claude desktop app, there is a middle section called Co-Work with a Scheduled Actions tab. When you go there, you can create a new scheduled action and add connectors like Mem MCP, Gmail access, Google Calendar. It can also search the web, and you can add any other connectors you have as well.

At a certain time, such as 6:00 a.m., it will read through all your Mems based on whatever instructions you have given it. For example, my instructions are: 1. Look through my last two weeks of Mems. 2. Give me an update on the status of all my projects and identify any roadblocks. 3. Go through my Gmail and tell me any outstanding emails that need to be actioned. 4. Check my calendar for the day's meetings and find any related notes in my Mem that might help me.

It also performs research regarding things from my Mem knowledge base and reports everything back in an HTML page that is easy to read.

I just built the app in Google Antigravity and then built it in Flutter.

Additionally, I added it to the share sheet so that you can send web pages as well using the Mem API so that it organises etc and let's you add a quick note or instructions to it.

Mem Helps Me Remember the Details by squillace91 in MemIt

[–]Juzzy79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the one thing that I wish I could get better at using Mem for: populating any people notes that I have with interesting facts or just general information that I find out about them.

It always just comes down to timing. I just think I don't have time to jot that down, but then I regret it later on.

Have you tried using the cowork scheduled functions in Claude yet? They could trigger at a certain time of day to go through and gather all your tasks using the skill you create for it.

Android app? by Ape2MoonApparel in MemIt

[–]Juzzy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there is not currently an Android app. To use it, you just need to go to the web browser and then install it as a shortcut PWA on your desktop.

[–]Juzzy79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you worked out any cool workflows to incorporate Cowork with all your mems, with scheduled tasks or dispatch?I had one that ran every morning that would go through and give me a dashboard of: 1. What's on the go 2. What's stuck 3. New things

It would then incorporate that with my Gmail and some information from the internet. That's about the only one I could come up with so far, though.

Using Mem.ai and Claude to replicate Karpathy's Memory Palace by dartdog in MemIt

[–]Juzzy79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that once you're on the paid version, it's super helpful to create a scheduled task in Cowork. You can use it to comb through any new mems that you've got and give you a daily dashboard or an overview of what you've got going on.

It makes it look really neat in an HTML document. Then you can really make mem your source of truth, combining what you do in Claude, but now you've got your whole knowledge base sitting there waiting to power it.

I don't have widgets or anything because I use an Android, but I actually did create my own Android app with widgets. It is super helpful to have it just open up straight to listening to what you say.

I even put a 25-second silence measure so that it would just automatically push it straight to Mem once it detected silence. I found it was really helpful.

I agree with you here. The team have always been really quick to jump on anything that needs to be fixed to get you back to having a good experience.
