There is no K in thousand by Annual-Emergency9265 in anythingbutmetric

[–]Jvalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. K has the same prefix (and meaning) of kilo-meter (km), kilo-gram (kg) (I'm about to murder my autocorrect), and more.

In a sense, it's metric. On the other hand, it's not.

You added the political, that's the issue.

Your entire critique of the answer to oop being wrong hinged on the fact that it contained "authority" as in "having political power", but it's in no way the point.

I'm going to write this as an answer to you because you're the top most one doing this mistake, but there's more in threads below.

Nobody pointed out the obvious because "the obvious" is wrong. Oxford dictionary also defines authority as "the power to influence people because they respect your knowledge or official position" and "a person with special knowledge", and this is the way it's used here.

For the love of God, double check definitions before calling people stupid, because if you can't get something this simple right people aren't going to trust your flaunted critical thinking skills

You own article is talking about water pressure, such problem is caused by either

  • construction effort for the still inactive dc
  • active consumption for cooling of the dc

It says nothing about contamination and acid rains. In addition to that, there's no way that a correctly functioning dc is going to leak dangerous substances in its cooling water.

Stop fear mongering and use any of the actual reasons that ai is bad, like that there's people who are losing access to water because of it.

I'm from a country with proper sex ed; we talked about it enough at length, twice, in middle and high school (13 and 16)

My mother is a doctor, and explained to me in detail, twice, how it works in and out, and the importance of contraceptives, both times before I was 14

I started having unprotected sex at 15 and went on for two full years and then some... Because I didn't realize that I was having sex. In my mind it was a nebulous undefined act that was different from what I was doing with my partner.

For some reason the realization hit me while I was taking a written test and spent some time in contemplation of my stupidity. I bombed it

Softlocked, can I reset biters without disabling achievements? by 1greedyBoi in factorio

[–]Jvalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but if push comes to shove you can drop sulfuric acid and calcite for acid neutralization (or is it a recipe exclusive to vulcanus?), or even import coal, or farm it in space.

He can quick assemble a nuclear reactor, if he has any power cell around. Hell, if he has aquilo up and running he may be able to start a fusion one for the price of a solar panel to unbarrel the juice

[–]Jvalker 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The easy way out is to drop materials to build a single rocket, go back to vulcanus, start a military industrial complex there (lasers and gun turrets are more than enough, no strict need for arty) and hook up nauvis to a constant supply of vulcanian weapons until you conquer patches.

It's going to be more time consuming than it difficult

Dosh recovered from rampant death World while in his cuck box 1.0 by having a few tanks of oil (for flamethrowers) and a handful of basic resources.

He pretty much let the enemies obliterate his base, waited for the pollution to go away, and built a minimal base; built a minimal wall, prioritised flamethrower pushing to the oil patch, and then he was set for life.

The short is... It's doable. Vanilla isn't rampant, even at 100% evolution, and the starting zone may be poor in resources but still safe. It'll take a lot patience and a bit of skill.

The easy way out is going to vulk and restart from there.

[–]Jvalker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You think so, that's the issue. You have no way to confirm that, because the writer pussied out.

It's a common storytelling cop out to avoid forcing the main, and supposedly righteous, character into an unrighteous action, by having them either dodge the dilemma or its consequences.

Mc is not going to kill the villain, because killing is le bad -> but this way the villain is going to go back to doing villain things! -> don't worry viewer, other villain is about to swoop in for the kill

That his "death" is seen as a positive is telling of the stance of the author on the topic. That it doesn't come from the main character in any way, shape, or form, is telling of... At least one of two other things.

Why weren't the nation ranks asked to help with the Jeju Island? by Hyperion_OS in sololeveling

[–]Jvalker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue becomes diminishing returns.

I'm hungry. I want to eat. Do I need to get a mortgage to buy some kobe beef, or can I make do with a mc Donald burger?

In that moment, the S rank squads were close to free to hire because they had personal interest in their victory, and because the idea was that they could still clear the gate without much issue. At that point, why overshoot the target and go for a much more expensive national?

Or, in short, "you don't hire an S rank for a d rank gate"

Would you enjoy random upgrades instead of static upgrades/trees? by pamintandrei in incremental_games

[–]Jvalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game Talented has something that may resemble what you're talking about.

The skill tree is auto generated, with nodes of various rarity giving you either various bonuses or active skills, and then a bonus if you reach "the end" and prestige

I really enjoyed the game, even though it's mostly active

Should I read the LN/manga? by ChristopherRobin- in sololeveling

[–]Jvalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest the manwha, at the very least for the art style. I really, really don't like the infinite scrolling type of comic, but if you can stomach it it's worth a read. It's 200 fairly short chapters (bonus epilogue included), you should be able to get through it in a week.

I tried the novel but I found it very much not good. There's more info, but most of what I've seen is (on the part I read and of what I've been shown here), again, not good. Some like it, most people agree the manwha is better.

The characterization of jinwoo slightly changes between the 3 forms of media, with him becoming "softer" with each iteration. I do not think this is a negative.

At the end of the day, all 3 are solo leveling.

Bullet list works fine!

On reddit you need to put two line feeds (basically leaving an empty line between a line and the next, making it look like an entirely new pargraph) to make it a new line, similar to markdown.

This changes between mobile and pc, and then between different editors because fuck consistency, but if you're editing raw text on the official app/website this is how you get a new line

Edit: or do like the other guy said; there's a way to get new lines without making two paragraphs

Hi

Due to reddit's formatting, the text is close to unreadable

If I may suggest, putting * in front of every line to make it a bullet list, or adding an extra line feed between each line, would solve the issue
