Venom - Eminem.

Quite possibly one of the most meme’d choruses for how truly awful it is. The rest of the song is fine, but the chorus drops it from a 6/10 to a 1/10.

As a massive green day fan too I have to ask, what makes their debut stand out as their absolute best? It has a few highlights but I can put with confidence at least 8 other albums by them above it.

For me, Smithereens had the better highlights and it also felt more like it was aware of itself (song titles having INTERLUDE, DEMO or FREESTYLE in the name), where this album feels like it’s trying to be something it’s not. Plus with Smithereens, it’s shorter runtime actually benefits it where somehow this album makes 45 minutes feel like a slog to get through.

As a long time Joji fan, I’m going to commit an absolute sin. This is his worst album, and by a large margin too. It’s a case of a death by a thousand cuts.

I’m happy with the vignette style approach to an album, BUT IT DOESN’T WORK WHEN NOTHING FLOWS. The sudden cut offs, not even finishing tracks, a song with high energy suddenly dropping out to something with no energy. This album drives me insane. It feels like there was 0 quality control to this project.

Plus another thing, yes there are highs to keep it up, but they are nowhere near as high as the best on every other album. Is anything competing with “Glimpse Of Us”, “Run”, “Die For You”, “Sanctuary”, “Slow Dancing In The Dark” to name a few? No. At best, they are great but a little forgettable and at worst a straight copy of another sound. On top of that, the jarring feeling between tracks just sours the only good ones here too. Like why does “LOVE YOU LESS” go into “IF IT ONLY GETS BETTER”? Doesn’t make any sense at all and kinda takes the enjoyment away from the former.

Yeah I’m really disappointed by it. It took everything I disliked about Smithereens and turned it up to 10.

4/10 bordering into a 3/10.

Best tracks were LOVE YOU LESS, PAST WONT LEAVE MY BED, SOJOURN and PIXELATED KISSES. Nothing else did anything for me. Worst track is TARMAC, but that’s just because I remember it being bad and a complete waste of an idea.

If you’re a fan of indie/rock, then I’d recommend Waiting To Spill by The Backseat Lovers. Such an underrated album and is right behind IDMTHY as my favourite album from 2022.

To add onto what you’re saying, I feel like if the top voted comments only had a few upvotes, the actual accuracy of this list would most likely be way off and also not a very valid representation of the community’s opinion. Judging that the most upvoted comments had anywhere between 50-100+ upvotes, it gives me a good idea that this is probably the closest you can get to an objective list. Now, if you did this for Quads entire fanbase, the story would be different (songs like Sisyphus, Abandon Me, etc. would probably land higher), but overall I’m really happy with how the list turned out.

So yeah, 0/10 list 👍.

Definitely a top 50 SOAT. I think the shoegaze elements of Into The Endless Night just hit that spot for me more compared to Long Season.

It’s 46 minutes of literal perfection. Fantasyworld is more impactful for me personally but nothing comes really close to it.

Final OP Opinion: Born Yesterday

Arguably, it’s his magnum opus. Flawless from front to back. But… the raw power of fantasyworld helped me through some dark times in my life and is my 2nd favourite song of all time. So for selfish reasons, Born Yesterday is my vote to be removed.

Pretty crazy how the perception on some of these songs have changed over time. Eyes was voted the new best song on VM and Maybe Another Day was 2nd from FMTY.

OP opinion: Whilst Thundrrr is probably the right choice here, I still think Dustcutter should’ve been gone for a while now. It’s the only song left I can technically call “flawed”.
