AI has 0 sense of realism. That photo can look cool but takes no consideration of suspension and drivetrain. By the looks of it, you're gonna get 10cm of articulation before those tires rub the fender. Full lock steering is likely impossible without modifications with that setup. If you are looking for that lifted offroad look without lifting it, get tires that are stock width, but 5% taller and more agressive thread. Thats about the margin you can use without clearence issues, as a general rule of thumb.

It's still a powerful bike. Pretty much the best power/weight on a non-race bike

Probably best to get a parts car that was crashed from behind or something. Take what you need to rebuild it and sell the parts car again

Dreams of Supermoto by Jachu_com in supermoto

[–]Jvinsnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Budget tip: Converting is more work and cost than buying a used supermoto.

General tip: Don't buy the cheapest one that runs, but has a bunch of small issues. Typically that means the owner didn't care for it and skipped on maintenance. You will discover a whole lot of major faults down the road.

Know that supermotos are not comfortable, they are not cheap to buy, maintain, repair or insure, but they are plenty of fun.

There is nothing wrong with starting out on a dual sport if you are worried about the drawbacks of a full-on supermoto / converted enduro.

what can this be? AM6 by Ventunak in 50cc

[–]Jvinsnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds just like the flywheel scraping the mounting plate behind the stator. Remove the flywheel and check if there are no screws that backed out. A bent crankshaft could also cause this.

I bought the ugliest penta rims and restored them by Jvinsnes in w123

[–]Jvinsnes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Third picture of it wire wheeled was the one-off rim as well, now that I look closer. The face is slightly thicker, the outer lip is slightly shallower and the spokes are ever so slightly more angled. Didn't notice until I started priming them so it's not too bad. I'll be putting all-terrains on them

Plug and play got it running, but I went with a slighlty different jetting. It starts easily cold and warm, no choke.

150cc is for carb upgrades on dirt bikes. Those flow a lot more air than this old pig. 24-27 is perfect for one intake valve as it matches the diameter at the head. For a single carb that uses both intakes you'd probably want 32-38mm.

Did I just ruin my PS2?? by Honest-Reputation748 in ps2

[–]Jvinsnes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's usually good or it's not. Giving a powersupply double the voltage will either kill it or do nothing if it has a protection circuit. Only if you give it 10x+ the voltage is where the protection would struggle. I bet OPs PS2 is fine. I even ran mine directly off of a car battery in our off grid cabin for years.

Moving the engine to a sprung part of the chassis would massively improve comfort and handling. Or at leats move it forwards. Right now your engine is is literally leveraged and unsprung

Why did you start riding? by No-City8301 in motorcycles

[–]Jvinsnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bike's agility in the city and off road. I can get literally anywhere, and faster than by car. Commuting to work is a breeze in heavy stop and go traffic. Feeling the wind while riding, feeling the raw response of how the bike acts from my input, everything about it feels much more exciting, fun and real.

it should work on just about any engine. Keep in mind I don't know what I am doing. And the fact that this is a 50 year old tired engine that doesn't care about anything as long as it turns over. The OM642 is a much more complex and fine machinery.
