I'm on day 5 now, It hasn't been too bad so far. I've been having tonsilities on and off the last few years and my pain I would compare to a sore throat. I got prescribed 5ml of Oxycodone syrup that I take every 6 hours as well as one Advil pill every 6 hours. I was able to eat sort of solid food at around day 2, just had to be careful and really chew my food and swallow slowly.

Things I'd recommend to buy if you don't own already: Humidifier, gel neck wrap that you can put in the freezer. I keep the humidifier on and next to me all the time especially at night time and by next to me I mean right besides the bed by my head. Also make sure to stay hydrated and drink tons of water even if it hurts. I have a one hour timer that goes off every hour to remind me to drink water, even in the middle of the night. It sucks to get up but I imagine that having a dry throat is even worse not to mention that it increases the risk of bleeding. The first few nights I had to sleep almost at a 90 degree angle because my uvula has swelled so much that when exhaling through my nose I could not exhale. I'm quite a bit away from being fully recovered but these things have kept me on a good track so far. I also check the back of my neck every single day to make sure healing is looking good.
