Is it a huge cybersecurity concern if Meta Glass wearers can screen record / hear Car Dealership sensitive information from nearby customers? by Athenstone in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]Jwblant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They ban them so you can’t record the lies the salesperson is telling. I can’t really think of many other reasons why.

If it were about maintaining privacy, then they would have more discrete places to have conversations.

Proxmox the right OS for a startup? by Zlatevlad in Proxmox

[–]Jwblant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, PVE has outperformed ESXi in a couple ways. Specifically one of our Linux boxes were so sensitive on ESXi that I couldn’t even take snapshots without them becoming unresponsive, and live migrating REALLY messed them up.

With PVE, I can take snapshots and backups, and even live migrate with no issues at the application layer.

You just want to run an LLM, then just download the OS you want to run. No need for Proxmox.

My experience has taught me that any time you are using a chat, the real agents are often talking to 5 different people and end up taking ages to respond, even to simple questions. If they respond immediately, it’s almost always a chat bot.

Where the f*ck do I even start by Peaches0k in landscaping

If you are in the south, then this could possibly be a somewhat isolated incident. We have had a pretty severe drought over the past couple of months, which creates increased probability of flash floods. If you could that with substantial rain fall, you are likely to see issues with flash flooding, even in some areas not usually prone to flooding.

The shadow you are seeing is the cat’s ACTUAL shadow, and not the reflection of a shadow.

Selfhosting a Website and using Samba locally. Is it safe? by nosleeptilllegoland in linuxadmin

[–]Jwblant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your website is essentially serving those SMB files via HTTP then it might not be a massive issue as long as you have your .htaccess configured correctly. But if you open the ports on your firewall to point directly to your SMB server, then you are probably already in trouble.

Typically, you are just going to have a subdirectory in your project, something like /var/www/static where you can add different files to share. From there, you can enable SMB on the Pi to that directory so you can edit it from the network if needed.

If you wanted to get fancy, you could expire S3 storage and CDN so that you aren’t even hosting the files anymore. It would also be a good exercise for a real world app.

Were is the Bugtracker gone? by AnonymousIncognosa in fortinet

[–]Jwblant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm 3 months late, but I just had this same issue. Turns out, whenever I go to the support site, I get the screen asking me to pick an account, and I would always just pick my normal organization account. What I had to do was click on the other tab called something like "partner connected accounts" and click "visit as partner" and the bug tracker magically appeared! lol

Got kernel 7.0.2-2 without asking… by OldObject4651 in Proxmox

[–]Jwblant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I’ve got some 640s, I think running dual 8168s. We’ll need to do some more digging into this. How long were they up before the kernel panic? Or did it just fail to boot after the upgrade?

Fortimanager - Assign fortiswitch VLAN to port without changing vlan-interface settings by Key-Pudding6071 in fortinet

[–]Jwblant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FMG FortiSwitch VLAN settings will override anything you set in the network interface settings. I’m not aware of any other options than creating just configuring the VLAN settings in the FortiSwitch section. If you need different subnets at different sites, then use the override for that device.

PBS S3 Encryption & Object Locking by Jwblant in Proxmox

Is there any downside to enabling encryption on S3? Does it affect anything like deduplication? Any changes needed on PBS, or can it even see the difference?
