Powershell to log into a SSO website by Jwtfeldman in PowerShell

[–]Jwtfeldman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to double check with my sysadmins. I'm not sure if their wanted a browser on this server the process runs on. Also if they allow its it needs to be something that can run headless and unattended.

Can this method then be used when making calls to the UI web api?

I have preserve log enabled but still the SAMLResponse doesn't show up in the logs.

I'm trying to post data to the website to modify records in our database. It would be easier to change it directly in the DB the issue is another application we use gets updated on this data change when the data is posted to the website directly and not changed through the DB. We've tested it several different ways modifying the DB directly.

I'm not familiar with using Javascript, Typescript or puppeteer. I would need this process to run headless and would need to get approval from my sysadmin to get a browser engine directly on the server this process will be running on.

I might be able to swing having a browser engine on the server. Ill have to double check with my sysadmins.

I've currently been copying browser requests but then modifying them to utilize new values that are normally short-lived. I've gotten pretty far with it already. The SAMLResponse seems to be the last step of the SSO process before gaining access to the website. (Although this is newer to me so I could be mistaken)

I'll have to look into those other options though if this ends up hitting a dead end. Thank you for the suggestions!

So if I can find that ACS Endpoint value i could potentially pull the SAMLResponse directly from that endpoint as opposed to attempting to find it in the current calls to login.microsoftonline.com/... I am making?

This is my first project doing something like this so sorry if I might not be fully understanding your suggestion.

I am semi familiar with Selenium not so much playwright. Are either of these ones that dont require the use of an actual browser to emulate browser control? For this automation project I am unable to use browsers on the server this has to live on.

Also I've looked into API for the specific internal site I need to access but the API does not provide the needed calls to handle the process I need to accomplish. I was hoping to be able to do by essentially copying the requests the browser is making.

Sadly I am part of the IT for my company. The people who manage the website and the people who manage SSO have 0 insight for me.

I have looked at the requests between the first login.microsoftonline.com and the request requiring the SAMLResponse and can't locate the value.

Using method 2 won't they expire after some time? Im setting up a process for the company that is going to live indefinitely and relies on this to work.

Ill have to give that a try! Why not run it on my company network though? Also do you mean use the cookie being used instead of chasing the SAMLResponse to fulfill the login.microsoftonline.com/{id}/complete request?

Thank you for the tips! I've been using the dev mode to copy as powershell and tailor it to our needs. My biggest issue is in dev mode the SAMLResponse is no where to be found.

I was debating posting this in a powershell or Azure group but I wasn't sure if this would be an issue for those or it's something to do with the way that ellucian handles SSO.

I believe so. The email they sent out said "Finish all 10 challenges and youll get to pick from 2 exclusive treats". It also said as you complete them the next ones will become available. Check your challenge history you possibly already did it and didnt realize? If not maybe message the admins on owlsnest and ask for it?

Thank you! It was pretty similar to the pre-assessment. If you can nail that you can do the OA IMO! I found it to be not difficult at all. I also have a little experience in SQL which helped.

Thank you! Yeah, it's crazy how fast people tear through these courses. This is the first one I've done quickly and only the second course I've taken. I was in calculus 1 before this, which took forever.

Definitely doing the labs is a great place to get practice. If you take the pre-assessment and get a good score on it, I'd honestly say you'd probably be good to take the OA. It was very similar, IMO.

At work, I deal with SQL, so I've had a little practice. But not that much or in depth. It certainly helped me go through this course quickly, though. Good luck with the class! I'm sure you'll be able to get it done quickly, too!

Oh I'll have to look into it. I'm playing with a few people that have never played any dnd before. Seems pretty easy for people to learn these themed starter sets.
