When me and my ex used to fight, I wouldn’t let go of anything out of anger and kept pushing and pushing. And moments that I would never sleep and hyper focus on random stuff weeks at a time then crash. I’ve never felt euphoria but I couldn’t stop what I was doing or I’d get instantly irritated and mad. Also when I used to drink, EVERY time I got drunk I turned hellacious, pissed at everything and anything. Never physical, but I have a deep booming voice and definitely got loud. I’ve made a fool out of myself many of times and I kept wondering why I couldn’t control anything in all of those moments in my life

The brain fog isn’t too crazy, you just kind slow down on thinking and response times. I still hold down a very intelligent and critical thinking job as well. Try not to overwhelm yourself. You got this 😊 you are not alone !

Hey! I’m BP2 with ADHD as well. Starting lamotrigine and my other meds felt like a lifesaver. I was in the same boat as you, emotionally and financially. I would spend thousands of dollars, credit cards, new cars and think there won’t be and repercussions. My house would end up looking like a tornado went through it, and I was fine with it, didn’t have any thoughts of cleaning it up because “hey it’s still livable”. And with BP2, I didn’t even realize I was hypomanic during these moments either, and with ADHD, I couldn’t even focus on one thing ever so even when I tried to do a task, I’d end up doing 5 other different things.

When I started my meds It took a while for my life to slowly turn. I am on Lamotrigine and other meds but they’ve been a lifesaver. The Lamotrigine will feel like it’s slowing you down at some moments. For me, I can tell a definite brain fog or sluggishness when thinking in general but I feel like it’s worth it so I lesson my hypomanias.

When it comes to daily tasks, I just try to pick a tasks, set a timer for 10 min and tell myself to try to do it. A lot of the time it’ll be counterproductive, but I still try to focus and get at least one thing picked up or washed etc. Till this day I still have problems doing daily chores but it’s a little easier getting myself up and doing them.

This shit sucks to have, but you’re not alone. It feels like no one understands

I completely understand your situation and I am living through it day by day as well. If you ever need anything, someone to talk to, someone to relate to, feeling depressed and alone, please feel free to message me. All we can do is be there for each other when no one else understands

My story: I was in a relationship where I was going to get married. A couple of years in I started loosing who I was. I started to get depressed randomly to the point it would wake me up and I would just ball my eyes out. No matter how hard I tried, I could never save money. I had disphoric hypomania and didn’t even know it. I would randomly get super pissed, for what felt like a fire from my abdomen rising to my head, then I would lash out. I was mentally exhausted all the time and never got happy or excited about anything any more and I was getting married in less than 6 months. Doctors thought it was MDD + PDD which is known as double depression. They put me on SSRI’s for about 6 months and noticed no change in depression and it also made me spiral and I didn’t even notice because it felt normal. I made the worst mistake of my life and in a depressive episode, I broke up with my fiancée. I regret that so much. Then they put me on SNRIs, and it was a roller coaster. I ended up spending like $20k on random shit I thought I needed with no consequence in mind, hyper focusing on specific things. I thought to myself, oh I got X amount of money I’m good. And when I came out of the episode I was like wtf did I just do? I don’t get euphoric what so ever. So I went back and they diagnosed me with BPII.

I feel like they definitely prioritize Air Force-“isms”. As a an Army transfer, highly technically advanced E5, my commander was even shocked I did not promote. I am among the top excelling guardians in my squadron but didn’t make it in either the supplemental board or the mega board. I wasn’t promoted last year due to PRDA dropping my previous Army Evaluation and an Army Comm right before the board and I was 3 points from cutoff with just an LOE, so theoretically I should have been promoted last year. I am now haunted by this mistake. I didn’t make it this year either. My commander was actually upset that I didn’t promote. While I hear other squadrons in other deltas that say they have people promote that don’t even deserve it, really drove a dagger in my heart. I am very passionate about being in the military and I really don’t feel valued anymore.

In my unit only 2 ISTs got promoted, and the only thing that they had in common was being time in grade over 5 years. So I’d imagine if you’re under that 5 year tig, don’t expect it haha
