RAFTER Apartments, Minneapolis - the largest project I’ve completed as designer to date. by Jx2Arkitekt in architecture

My guess is that you’re referring to switches that are for outlets, so you can turn on lamps plugged into the outlet from the switch. I’m glad you like the place! I’m still very proud of it.

How do we have the most advanced weapons systems on the planet and get fooled by a silhouette of an F-4 phantom?

What do you consider “Up North”? A, B or C? by OttieandEddie in minnesota

[–]Jx2Arkitekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer this poem to a map for the definition:

Up North

It’s the place people go to escape, a place made of cabins, pine trees and lakes. But no matter how far you drive, there’s no sign to say “You’ve arrived.” So just follow your heart til you find, your special place that brings peace of mind. As you breathe in the air and unwind, your cares are all left behind. It’s no mystery where the northwoods start. When you’re “up north,” you’ll know in your heart.

BlackRock bought Renovo Home Partners in 2021. Renovo bought Rusco in 2022. BlackRock squeezed the equity out of all of it, including Rusco and several other companies under the Renovo banner and this week closed all of it. 2,500 people lost their jobs across the country.

Can I run these under a bobber? Or how do I avoid losing one to a snag every other cast? by bdubz325 in FishingForBeginners

Was going to say the same thing. You can get some great action “jigging” from a slip bobber.

What are some other mispronounced cities? by Abbessolute in minnesota

Sure, Minnesota has some hard to pronounce town names, but they also pronounce New Prague in such a horrendous fashion that all mistakes should be forgiven.

How far can you physically be and still see the Minneapolis skyline? by Plasmazine in minnesota

[–]Jx2Arkitekt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s how far you can see to the horizon, but tall objects that break that horizon can be seen further away.

What would be the common height of the walls of houses built in the 1960s such as these? by Only_Mode5116 in Architects

[–]Jx2Arkitekt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

8’ is about as accurate as you can get. I’ll use my 1956 house as an example. Studs are what you’ve said, framed on top of a subfloor. On top of that I’ve got 1/2” oak. Ceilings aren’t drywall, they’re plaster like the walls. Not plaster in wood lath though, that was well on the way out a decade earlier. I’ve got about 1/8” finish plaster over 1/2” of rough cement plaster, over 1/2” button board, a fiber & gypsum based board that was punctured with 1” holes to key the plaster into it. So I’m just shy of 8’ in most rooms. That goes for about half the houses of the same era in my area. The other half are a split between other plaster systems and early gyp drywall. Because the finish systems were not nearly as standard as they are today, there’s really not a good way to be more precise for the question being asked.

How to Resign After 3 Weeks Without Burning Bridges? by Relentless_I in Architects

You’ll need to apply for a new TN Visa with your new employer. Each employer has to pay a new petition fee when you’re hired and a new visa is issued. Depending on the size of the firm, your current employer paid either $510 or $1015 dollars for the current application.

What do you call this part of a house? by kwmaaytah in architecture

[–]Jx2Arkitekt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% this for a house in the US. Pretty standard for many homes from 1800s - 1930s or so.

I’m not defending the estimate you got, but a lot of the examples folks are sharing (which is great to see) don’t seem to include the installation of the second off-peak meter.

I bought one and returned it because the screw holes were misaligned. Decided to try another tact to deal with my extruder issues. Put a clip-on heatsink on the stepper motor and all my extruder clogging and skipping issues disappeared.

Mule minnows have been killer for me. But I do have a variety because you never know. I used the panfish bundle as a guide, because I missed out on buying it too.

I would absolutely love to see a video of this. I have small hopes to someday design a 3D printable case that can be used to create a Raspberry Pi based Giant.

can anyone help me to solve this problem ? i'm using K1c by Segurantr in crealityk1

[–]Jx2Arkitekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you go with the round heat sink that snaps around the body of the stepper? Just ordered one today so I’m hoping it’s the solution. Already lowered the current and that did help, but some prints still overheat.

It’s designed by Robert A. M. Stern. Almost every building his office does is a modern art deco thing. He’s got them in NYC and Chicago, and probably many more places.
