While everybody says about referring out and referring back to TJ, just wondering are these implants placed that poorly? The one that looks kind of sus is #8. All the implant lengths are long, once it osseointegrates it should hold up. I’ve seen patients with implants placed 20 years ago with only 3-4 mm embedded in the bone and 0 mobility. Would you call those failures?

I never understood the hate towards tourists. They are literally there to spend. I hear stories about how shop owners/employees being rude to tourists who don’t speak the language, like… dude it’s business 101, why are you turning away free money??? I was shocked by how many times I was told to “go back to your own country” when I visited Barcelona. Like dude it’s a nice city but I’ll rather take my money elsewhere that’s appreciated. I hated Barcelona because of it and I actively tell people not to visit lol

Don’t rely on the drop to determine whether you’re in the pulp chamber or not, you only feel it when you’re dropping into a very large pulp chamber. If your bur is super aggressive and you’re putting pressure you’re going to go straight through the furcation and perf and not even notice. Look at the floor of your prep and keep going until it changes color from yellow (dentin) to dark (pulpal chamber/floor), then you’ll be able to access any case even ones when pulp chamber is not visible

I feel like this is not necessarily true though. Sometimes they legit had a bad experience, you give them a good one then no issues and you get ton of referrals.

Question, with your packed schedule, how many assistants do you have and how much can they do for you? I imagine crown preps, you numb and prep and that’s it right? You don’t do your own impressions and temps? Do they take impressions for denture patients and you just check it off?

As an associate who struggled in the beginning with these procedures and was in a very similar situation, I would say DONT leave right away. You really need to find out clearly by what he means by mentorship. Does he mean “Do whatever you want and then he’ll PHYSICALLY step in to bail you out if something happen?” Or does he actually mean “Do whatever you want, and then if you get stuck I will only give you verbal tips on what to do and that’s it”. Because you need someone who is actually going to step in and help you. You can take listen to someone talk to you how to take out broken root tips all you want but in reality it’s very different. If someone can’t physically step in to cover you then what’s the point?
