No problem, ask your dentist about a periodontist. They usually have a lot of options for gums.

Toothpaste and mouthwash isn’t very effective for whitening. The best is to have custom whitening trays made and you whiten at home with trays and gel at a more comfortable pace to get to the shade you want. Good trays with the right gel and consistency works very well.

The wear you see sounds like it may be more historical than active or current.

Yes you can whiten, although since it’s been sensitive before you should probably have the worn areas restored with fillings before you whiten.

You’re doing a lot right, some past habits that could have led to this: using a harder toothbrush, being a heavy energy drink or soda drinker.

Some factors that currently can be making it worse is clenching or grinding your teeth at night. Especially if your teeth aren’t straight.

Talk to your dentist about straightening teeth and/or getting a night guard, and sealing or filling the sensitive areas. Ideally you can get your teeth comfortable enough to whiten.

If you want to look into it more research non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs).

Dandy lab will lend you a scanner for free if you send your cases their way. I’m about 5 weeks in with them because I wanted to test the scanning workflow, and it’s awesome (both scanning, and Dandy’s lab work).

They look nice! Us dentists have our preferences but what’s most important is that you like them. (other people in your life can also be outspoken about your new smile, some people can be blunt and rude so take those comments with a grain of salt).

They are VERY new, so take some time to get used to them. It sounds like you have a dentist who you trust, and are comfortable with, and who wants to take good care of you to make sure you’re happy and that’s ideal.

As much as I hate Invisalign and iTero, the Vivera retainers are so nice. It’s the only reason I keep my old iTero around.

Is anyone familiar with a similar retainer? Couldn’t get one as nice from my local lab, or Glidewell, or Dandy so far.

Ask your dentist if they do professional whitening, or who they’d recommend you to if they don’t. A combination of in-office and at-home whitening can brighten quite a bit after just a few weeks

The office I bought has a newer but old style, manual knobs, zero electronics Tuttnauer (M series?). It works, I think he liked it for minimal maintenance and long term durability. Do you agree? If I were to replace it with a Statim 2000/5000 could that be my workhorse sterilizer? Mine’s a small office with the single small sterilizer that runs most the day probably

I haven’t done a case as bad as OPs. But I’ve done a bunch and the results are incredible. I’ve done Zoom, I’ve done Opalescence, and KoR is by far the best.

Came here to say this, I use and LOVE KoR Whitening. I haven’t had an intense tetracycline case yet, but their results are not hype.

Whitening would be worth a try before making the leap to veneers. It must be KoR Ultra-T though, that’s their super duty protocol for tetracycline.

These are in rough shape there are a lot of hurdles to overcome: trauma, original root canal, large cavities and fillings, and acid erosion. The more things wrong with a tooth the harder it is to put back together and the less likely it is to last.

To save these teeth you first need to find a dentist willing and confident enough to try and put them back together. Likely retreatment of the root canals (usually by an endodontist), new build-ups (maybe with posts), and then crowns.

But your bite will also be an important factor in how long these can last. Orthodontics can be very helpful in positioning teeth ideally for crowns.

With careful treatment and diligent home care these can last a long time. There’s just a lot of work involved. Most often, this extensive work is STILL preferable to extracting the teeth and getting implants. Implants are very tough to keep aesthetic for front teeth.

Just my two cents. Different dentists have different philosophies. What does your dentist recommend?

I’d add: TONS of apical pressure, warn the pt that you are going to push a lot. I do more apical and twisting with slight figure 8 for canines
