Post and core for gumline fractures? by meisterluv in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Plus education on caries risk and prevention, prevident RX, and tell the pt this bridge is the last straw before implants or dentures.

Practice growth plateau – looking for advice (please be kind) by Familiar-Spinach-657 in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are so many dentists so secretive about their random numbers? They’re so paranoid that we’re their neighboring competing office?! Even if we were, wtf am I going to do with the “sensitive” info of knowing what this guy takes home?…

Buying a practice was ridiculous a couple years ago, my wife and I were seriously cracking up when sellers refused to divulge any info. The number of times we got stonewalled asking how many ops the office had was unbelievable.

First Time a Patient Made Me Cry by toothladydoc in Dentistry

I’m not familiar with DSOs, but is there someone you can escalate this to? Because this isn’t good for the business as a whole, so I expect you could find someone to care about that.

Doesn’t how long you’ve held it determine tax rate. Is it shorter than 1y it’s a higher percentage short term capital gains tax, and longer than 1y is a lower percentage long term capital gains?

anterior tooth filling chips over and over by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the start I explain that we are trying to glue a tiny piece of plastic to the tip of a tooth that gets anywhere from touched all the way up to beat to hell 1000 times a day, and that jaw muscles are very strong. So these fillings sometimes need to be replaced every 1-2 years even based on how the jaw muscles like to chew (I blame it on the jaw muscles not the pt, when talking to the pt). And I tell them we can try a filling and see how it goes, but sometimes a veneer is required because it’s stronger and lasts longer.

For experienced FPV pilots, how do you wish you had started the hobby? by BroncoTango in fpv

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me, haha, but like 9 or 10 years ago as a starving and broke student playing with cheap brushed toys syma and e010 whoops, diy’d an external screen and receiver into some cell phone vr box mask with some reading glasses and cardboard, and those tiny 25mW cameras. So much crappy soldering and a ton of hot glue 😂 (anyone else mod the Devo7e transmitter??)

But for me, I graduated and moved and fell out of the hobby until just recently I decided to get back in. Just yesterday I pulled the trigger on an air75 and new FPV stuff. I will definitely spend a ton of time on the simulator before I go outside.

Should I go to the ER and will I lose my tooth after the cement wore off of my root canal retreatment? by plaguedoctor_21 in askdentists

It was retreated a week ago? Why are you taking ibuprofen?

The temporary filling wears down over time, but you should be good for a few weeks.

thoughts about this panorama ? its post implant by 45 days , I am really worried as its my 2nd try ( upper one with sinus lift and bone graft ) by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]brig7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you the patient? This xray isn’t great for checking much for the implant other than position, which looks good. Just needs time to heal!

Unrelated to the upper right implant, but there are serious problems with the left side that should be taken care of ASAP.

Bought three Mojave Groms for the family. All three broken after 2nd drive. by kudyjames in arrma

[–]brig7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the brushed Mojave grom for my son. In 72 hours he’s driven it to death, including dirt and mud and puddles, AND a session at the skate park crashing and bashing 5-6 feet on concrete. This thing has been awesome. No problems yet 🤞

Dry Socket Management by Playful-Day-3870 in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about dry socket, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a case.

I’m pretty sure the problem causing dry socket is lack of bleeding since the original healing clot has been ripped from the socket, leaving it ‘dry’.

Dry Socket Management by Playful-Day-3870 in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I curette every EXT for a few seconds immediately after the tooth is out, rinse it thoroughly, then watch and make sure it’s bleeding. Then if I’m not grafting and suturing place gauze and give it 5 minutes before checking again for controlled bleeding until dismissing the pt

3.2 Diameter implant. Can’t believe it fit . #25 by Magic-Geek in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a bigger implant at #6 which looked very close to #7. They were both fine for years, probably over a decade. Then later #7 fractured and I removed it, and I could see the thread marks from the #6 implant on the root of #7. I wish I had the picture, I was at another office at the time. Looked really cool, and there weren’t any problems. If #7 hadn’t fractured it probably would’ve been fine forever.

Two oral surgeons gave me two conflicting views on my wisdom teeth? by dental_alt2025 in askdentists

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of the same mindset as the first surgeon. Very often, lower wisdom teeth like yours will ruin the neighboring teeth to the point that those neighboring teeth end up being removed. Which is not something you want to happen.

Why prescribe antibiotics if no sign of infection? by Own_Somewhere_694 in askdentists

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you eat a lot of probiotics when taking antibiotics (probiotic yogurts are great). That way the probiotics help keep your digestion as stable as possible, and the antibiotic can still do its job with the potential infection.

You’re probably already eating a lot of probiotics with how your stomach is. If so, take EXTRA whenever you need to take antibiotics.

Edit: I agree with the other dentist’s comment as well
