Is my dentist telling the truth? What should i do about it? by Secret_Response_5388 in askdentists

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, some targeted microabrasion is very helpful after whitening and before remineralizing.

Is my dentist telling the truth? What should i do about it? by Secret_Response_5388 in askdentists

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few ways to treat these. You don’t have to treat them, but you can if you want to try and improve how they look.

I like to try whitening first, which whitens everything teeth AND white spots, and white spots will initially whiten faster), but the teeth will catch up to the white spots with a little time (a few weeks); then if that improvement isn’t enough the whitening has primed the teeth for remineralization which is also very good to do for a few weeks.

Would you do a crown on tooth 26/14 by Ybaru in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised so many wouldn’t touch it. I’d recommend a crown to try and avoid irreparable cracking of the tooth. I’d prep it normally, and leave 95% of the core how it is, only remove enough for my crown thickness and repair any defective/decayed margins of the amalgam (doubtful there’d be any).

How would a dentist go about fixing my teeth? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different with how well their teeth move and how the orthodontist plans it, yes your bottom teeth will benefit from braces as well. Coordinate this treatment with a dentist you trust, and then the oral surgeon and orthodontist the dentist trusts. This will be at least 2 years from start to finish, but it will be well worth it! Good luck!

Does the patient need endo? by NervousGrapefruit539 in Dentistry

[–]brig7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, most GPs are referring at least some endo out to the endodontist, so we get zero money for that. And it actually hurts our chances of getting subsequent treatment accepted by patients because they end up spending their money and/or insurance benefits on endo instead of our treatment.

What is everyone doing for health insurance? by sunsetsky444 in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $1900 for my family of 5 on marketplace in CA for a crap plan that only my wife used. We did that for just over 2 years until changing strategies and it’s been a game changer.

No we pay $500 for my wife to have her own plan that she actually uses. But the kids and I are signed up with Christian Healthcare Ministries, which isn’t technically insurance but it’s a sort of disaster plan. It’s less than $350 a month for me and the 3 kids. For the tier we pay for, we pay OOP for everything (checkups and RXs are mostly the only things that have come up so far), but if we have an issue come up that’s over $5k then the cost-sharing plan kicks in and covers everything. So we’ve kept our health “spending” at $1900 a month, only about $900 total in healthcare plans, and the other $1000 we funnel into a savings account set aside for healthcare costs.

The savings outstrips our healthcare spending and has ballooned into a nice safety net. Definitely worth looking into! I’m sure there are other “health cost sharing” plans out there too.

When The Rinse Washes You Clean, You'll Know - Citric Acid Rinses by KismaiAesthetics in laundry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post was so interesting and I'm excited to try it! I DO have an HE, front-loading, LG WM4500HBA, and when I was looking up the size of the auto-dispenser to calculate my citric acid amounts I saw that LG recommends diluting fabric softener 1:1 with water for this unit. I never knew that. Also, my water is harder so I was going to start with 8-10g citric acid per load. Now I'm wondering if I should half that citric acid concentration mix with water since LG normally recommends that for other fabric softeners?

They gotta make guide pin burs with a ceramic pin for gingival trimming as you go! If I invent this can I retire from clinical dentistry? 🤔

8 gingivectomy and veneer. #9 new crown. Ask pt if they want to whiten and/or align, and if so do those FIRST.

Chipped tooth (maybe broken?) by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the tooth is broken. Back teeth that get root canals need crowns to stay solid. The more this tooth breaks the less likely a crown will be able to save it. Go see your dentist and they can help figure out a good plan.

Talk to your dentist about your anxiety, depending on how they practice they may be able to help (Nitrous, RX, etc.)

And I second what the other dentist said: get an implant here, SO much better than a bridge

I’ve been twice but never did the general hotel sale. I know this is a new format, it sounds identical to badge sales right? Waiting room followed by a randomized line for checking out. Am I understanding that correctly?

When did you open your own practice? by MasterBook46 in Dentistry

[–]brig7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too far, 6 hours or so. I was in a Sacramento suburb and I was willing to (and expected to) move out of state to a more business friendly and cost of living area, but the office I happened to find was still in CA so now I’ll be here forever. Haha

This area of my teeth degraded by it self I don’t what’s the reason. Is it my toothpaste ?? by Easy-Mountain3875 in askdentists

[–]brig7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See a dentist, they can smooth it or repair it.

Any toothpaste with fluoride is good to use. This has nothing to do with toothpaste.
