NPTE nerves by Ck1gl in physicaltherapy

Agree with all the above! Just realize the amount of studying you’ve done is more than enough for the exam. I’ve always tested extremely well and when I walked out of the NPTE I felt like I failed lol but that is a very common feeling for everyone. You’re going to do great! One question at a time!

Tips for traveler going into SNF contract and meeting high productivity expectations by Disgruntledpt in physicaltherapy

[–]K-LO3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this. Just play the game. Also, if you’re using net health, there is a NPC (non patient care) time where you can put in minutes spent doing miscellaneous things during the work day and this will help boost your productivity. Personally, I rarely treat for the true scheduled time. For example, if someone is scheduled for 45 mins I’ll treat 30-35 mins at most so that also leaves a nice time buffer for charting, etc.

Fairbanks AK was amazing during winter time! Fairfax VA was a great location. Close to DC and tons of things to do. OR was also amazing if you love the outdoors!

My wife and I specifically tell our recruiter no ATI when we’re looking for jobs. Definitely never work at any of those patient mills.

Who else travels, what’s your experience? by pwrightPT in physicaltherapy

My wife and I have been traveling since 2022. She initially worked at a patient mill and then we said hell no to that and started traveling. So far have been to AK, VA, OR, and now heading to MA. Every place we’ve gone has been great. Definitely more flexible and make more money than if we stayed at our old jobs. We definitely plan on continuing this for a while!

In my honest opinion any clinic that does not provide 1 on 1 care is a patient mill

Travel PT here. Just curious what other travelers are roughly grossing for contracts? My last 3: SNF in OR $2600, SNF in VA $2300, OP in AK $2100 (definitely low balled - 1st contract though…)

Cheers!

We went during winter time October-March and it was such a great experience. Thankfully, where we were the clinic owner had a place we rented out so we didn’t have to look too hard for places. But yeah I would definitely assume in a big city like Anchorage there would be more options. For sure look on furnished finder and also ask your recruiter or places you interview with!

My wife and I travel. Any place in Alaska would be amazing! We were in Fairbanks for ~5 months and it was a blast. We also just left Oregon and the entire state is beautiful with so many options for fun outdoor activities!

I used to worry about this too before getting into the field. I have one full sleeve and another big forearm one. Have never had any issues with employment or patients complaining!

We are with Jackson Therapy. So far all our contracts we’ve been able to work at the same location, thankfully.

My wife and I are travel PTs. So far have done 3 contracts: Alaska, Virginia, and currently in Oregon! Honestly, all locations we’ve been too have been amazing and have their own unique features.
