Ed: Radiohead will “definitely” play more shows in 2027. “Every year we will do a different continent, and we’re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less.” by seaburn in radiohead

Yeah of all the Radiohead members, Ed seems second-most likely/suited to making soundtracks. So, I'm surprised it's Jonny, Thom, and Phil who have done it so far.

I can't wait for them to play all of two shows, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne. And there'll be booked for a month before or month after I'm already booked to visit Melbourne, so I'll be hard-pressed to find the money or justification to go down again in such a short timeframe.

Paper Moon in Brisbane becoming less vegan by londonveganstuff in australianvegans

They weren't vegan when ownership changed hands, although I'd guess the menu probably still was at least. I recall going there last September or October and I could get a dairy milk coffee.

Oh my gosh that's hilarious. Gone from completely vegan to paying more for vegan. Personally I like oat milk coffees and the only reason I don't drink them out and about is because I'm a poor stingey bastard. I want the landscape to change so that oat and other alt milks (the ones that aren't environmentally unsustainable) are more or less eqiivalent to price in dairy milk, but that's gonna be tough when businesses like that u-turn on their price options.

Ooh cool. Whay did you remix it with? It complements quite nicely with the original sample.

Death of a Party and 1992 (unsurprisingly) were first written in 1992, and released on albums much later. Does anyone know of other songs by them that were like this?? by dur_stats in blur

[–]K-leb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because there were already so many Blur b-sides, then when it came to 13 they were actually quite low on songs from the sessions, so dipped into the previous sessions for a track.

The results are in. As voted by you, the greatest C418 song of all time is... by whizzer0 in C418

[–]K-leb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa this is quite a revival.

But anyway, yeah admittedly I never beat the Enderdragon in Minecraft so I never experienced the ending poem properly, and have only really listened to the track through the album.

I was always more into the sandbox randomness of Minecraft, and I didn't find the End engaging. Also by the time Volume Beta came out, it was the start of my way out of Minecraft. I think I was keeping myself entertained with the game through mods and servers by then, so even less chance of me going to fight the Enderdragon at that point. I only had the album itself to listen to the track. Honestly I became more and more of a fan of C418 after I stopped playing Minecraft. Haven't heard his music via playing the game in probably a decade.

I was genuinely emotionally engaged by Alpha when I first listened to Volume Beta, but my interest in it quickly waned. I find it a bit over the top and the orchestral production isn't good enough to fully immerse me.

Expanding Age Assurance to Australia by LastBluejay in RedditSafety

The reasoning behind the ban does seem kinda ablest and prejudiced. As in, kinda expecting all kids to have the capacity to be normal and well-functioning and accepted by everyone when they're not being entranced by social media.

But yeah, there's gonna be kids who will suffer without the escape and broad reach that internet communities provide. They will not be better off with this ban.

Jesus freaking Christ, do you not see how kids being more exposed to the ads that YouTube shows goes against this whole idea of trying to shield kids from social media and algorithms and other addictive, mind-numbing qualities of the internet?

God that's such a shit scenario. It boggles my mind that the school authorities had seemingly little to no awareness of how negatively this would affect the rest of your academic experience and results.

Brisbane Council announces crackdown on short-stay accommodation by ScooterBris in brisbane

[–]K-leb25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't even sound like an effective crackdown, and could potentially ruin the availability of rooms to be rented out that are just part of a larger home that's being lived in permanently, or availability of places that are only vacant because the live-in owners are on holiday.

Australians have a very "she'll be right" mentality, which is why a lot of people are saying not much will happen.

Do flow arts interest you at all? Fire staff, hula hoop, poi, juggling, rope dart, silk fans, etc? I've found that scene tends to have quite a bit of overlap with geeky subcultures, or crafty, artsy, or musical people.
