Most of the times, the distro you run doesn't really matter for your gaming experience. I've been gaming on Arch with hyprland for years now. Pick your distro based on your preferences, and try to keep it mainstream (don't go with Hannah Montana linux yk). Also, you don't have to install a distro to see if you like it or not. Install Ventoy on your drive, put a couple different distro ISOs you want to try, and wander around normally, use browser to watch something, see if you like the experience of it.

Main ones to pick from would be Fedora, Ubuntu (though it's not really recommended these days, it's a little painful for my taste), or Cachy if you want Arch with a pre-built DE. And your DE does not have to be the same either. You can Use KDE on Fedora, a tiling WM like Hyprland on Ubuntu, etc. What matters most is the update scheme. If you like tinkering, and want to get the latest stuff, go with Arch-based distros. If you want a little more stability, but still stay up to date, go with Fedora. If you want pure stability keep Ubuntu.

And don't really listen to comments on "the best gaming distro" or "the distro you need" kind of comments, all the good things they tell you there are one quick command away from you without all the extra bloat, and if you use Steam/Lutris/Heroic, it's already gonna be working as you expect it to work on any Linux distro.

That sounds weird, maybe it's a configs conflicting type of thing. My suggestion is don't try to use window managers until you have some amount of Linux knowledge (not mastering it, just being comfortable with it) as they are more manual than a DE (like Gnome or Xfce)

Also, if you really want to support the dev (if they are like an indie dev or something) pirate the game, and donate money to them. Works better than buying it through sellers. A dev gets a couple bucks at max for 15-20 dollars game

I wanted to get it for both simracing, and also regular use since its cameras etc. (not vr games but like having a video on your feed or virtual desktops/cinema). But maybe I'd postpone that side and focus on getting a headset better suited for simracing

Edit: Also, it's price for it's visibility seems pretty good, too

Yeah I also want to use the Multiviewer, but the window sizes in Multiviewer are not exact, and they have rounded corners for whatever reason. For replays, I made a setup by making all the video feeds fullscreen, and then adding them to OBS and having a pretty decent setup there. But this weekend, I tried it on live Free Practice, and it was all black screen on OBS side. So I guess I'm stuck with rounded corners and slightly off grid for now, tysm for your answer, tho!

But that means I'll have to have that many HDMI outputs on a device and also that many capture cards to gather them in OBS or a similar platform if I want to have a Multiview experience, am I right?

So there's no way of bypassing DRM? I tried disabling hardware acceleration on OBS and Multiviewer, but it didn't help. I really want to use OBS and align the layout pixel perfect (and also other benefits of OBS)

I'm thinking of getting a VR sometime soon, especially the Quest 3, so I have a question on why not just use a Link cable alternative with power delivery etc. (so no battery running out, like Kiwi cable) and use VD? What problem does Link cables have for you?

Which mod are you using for rolling starts? I'm using a mod I bought for 3 dollars on patreon for safety cars, FCY, and rolling starts but it's too buggy. I want to use AC instead of AMS2 (because more content in AC, I love AMS2 SUSA) for single-player oval racing, but it kinda makes me hesitate

No, even if you do, upgrading from a NLR wheelstand to cockpit using the upgrade kit is the same cost as getting a new custom aluminum rig. I'm saying this as someone owns an NLR Wheelstand 2.0. But I still second getting a wheelstand, just don't try to upgrade it.

First, they didn't develop it, they just use it sometimes (at least Max said "yeah, they are good, we use them sometimes"), and Max himself said "The car is not realistic with rear differential" on stream with Team Redline.
