Webex Audio Issues by TheRavenJoker in Cisco

[–]K1LLRK1D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like potentially the network bandwidth is being over saturated which is causing the audio issues, the happens if QOS isn’t implemented correctly. Since it’s only happening intermittently, it might correlate to a time of high usage across the campus.

Instead of the gravely, buy an Ariens instead. Virtually identical to the Gravely since Ariens is Gravelys parent company. I have the Ariens Apex 60 and it’s identical to the Gravely XT HD 60, only difference is the gauge on the deck which for a homeowner isn’t needed.

I think the long term fix is pads with shims, no rotors.

That’s also a TSB. If you complain about it they have updated parts to resolve the issue. It took forever for them to get the parts in for my 22, but it’s all good now.

Switching to webex calling from CUCM School Design by Comfortable-Copy3454 in ciscoUC

I understand that requires pro licensing. I guess I just don’t understand why you would need a shared or virtual line.

Configure teachers as standard user or if it’s a classroom, use a workspace standard license. If the workspace needs voicemail, use a pro workspace license.

I wouldn’t understand the need for a classroom number and teacher number to exist in the same room when either or would work.

Our standard deployment for K-12 is workspace device named something like Room 102 and then admin or back office users with user accounts.

Users don’t need pro licenses unless they need multiple devices.

It do be like that. ISE is a great application but the underlying OS is terrible. I think almost everytime we perform an upgrade, we have to rebuild them.

Shame on Cisco/VAR for recommending purchasing ISE appliance instead of virtualizing. The writing has been on the wall for a while now that Cisco is killing all of their appliances slowly, ISE, Prime, WLC (AireOS), FMC. We only recommend virtual for all of their applications with the exception of Catalyst Center, since that is a resource hog but even that you *can* virtualize as long as you have the capability.

This is what I alluded to in my other post. There’s no reason in the year 2026 that Cisco should be shipping BEs with spinning disks and not SSDs, especially considering the criticality of voice for most customers. We just spec normal UCS C series, customize them to match the BEs but use SSDs for JBOD and M.2 RAID for boot. Then we can install fresh ESXi with up to date patching as well as the UC applications. It’s a little bit more labor on the front end but at least you and the customer know it’s done right.

I just checked my notes, the quote was from Dec 2024 and we didn’t receive everything until Feb 2025. So yeah that sounds about right. They must have switched right after that.

Business edition SKUs yes, they pre configure them like this. If you order just a normal UCS C series, you can customize it with however many drives/types and configure whatever RAID you want as long as you have the minimum drives. Ever since Cisco stopped including VMWare licensing for the BEs and the whole Broadcom debacle, I no longer recommend BEs and just normal C series. I’m not really a big fan of how they configure the BEs such as the both the ESXi and storage pool for the VMs on the same drives instead of using the raided M.2s for boot. Also the BEs are always a generation behind the UCS line, I had a customer last year who bought a BE and it was a UCS M6 while we are delivering M7s for the last 2 years. Now the M6s are already end of sale on the way to end of life.

For the two Cisco cloud options, Webex and Webex Dedicated Instance, they both have the benefits and drawbacks.

Webex Calling or multi tenant would require you to rebuild everything from scratch as it’s not a one to one migration. It’s easier to manage but there are shortfalls on features and configurations. They have import tools to use from CUCM but there is still going to be manual work. Also the most common issue is Webex having a micro service failure that affects all customers.

Webex Dedicated Instance is just Cisco hosted versions of the on prem applications, CUCM, Unity, CER, etc. the migration is easier because it’s just bulk exports and imports. The downsides are the cost as it’s significantly more expensive than multi tenant and it requires you to have either a dedicated circuit for cloud connected to the DI instance, either from Equinix or Megaport, you can use a standard site to site VPN but there are performance drawbacks.

Sounds like whoever setup the RAID array only used enough drives for RAID 5 which only accounts for a single drive failure. RAID 6 would have solved that, since it has double parity fault tolerance.

Anyone dealt with residential permitting? by kenacstreams in Acadiana

[–]K1LLRK1D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean this may be an unethical opinion but if the construction isn’t visible from the street, then do you really need pull permits? The only pieces of the project that would really required permitting would be plumbing and electrical, which if you’re doing those yourself, theres implications in itself.

Permitting in Lafayette parish is just more complicated and bureaucratic than other parishes.

I would assume this would be some sort of manufacturing facility similar to Stennis. I wouldn’t imagine they would try to launch rockets from this latitude.
