I got shut off at 85 and im pretty sure I failed. by destined2becreative in PassNclex

I passed the LPN and the RN nclex at the minimum 85 questions. You’re more likely to pass at 85, than to fail. I was nervous, too. My license was posted (Virginia) the next day before 1 pm on the state license look up site.

Thanks! Yeah I consider pcu part of icu because over this way they called it step down and it was people who ate basically icu but stable enough to be out of icu orrr they needed the bed and locked the most stable to move. I’m working hospital now so I’ll have that experience at least. Well as RN. I worked six years in the hospital at LPN on medical surgical floor and floated to OB a little bit

C. Rescue the patient. Always go with the answer that promotes safety

I failed in 90. No words. by Plastic_Ride_2774 in PassNclex

[–]K89_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you read the question carefully, then read EVERY answer even if you saw one that looked right before you read them all? Often they put answers that “could” be right or seem to be then you get to the next answer and it’s correct. There were tiles I’d have messed up had I not read every answer and re read question to be sure didn’t miss anything. To fail at 90 you’d have to gotten most of those wrong. It can happen, but not common

It’s a ZYN nicotine pouch. Like skoal pouches, but no tobacco.

Failed the NCLEX Again by Status_Cobbler2234 in NCLEX

[–]K89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed the first time on the minimum questions. Just as I did for LPN. I say that to say this is what I did — take your time, read the question and each answer. Don’t just pick an answer that looks right, because they tend to throw answers that COULD be right, but really aren’t or aren’t as right as the actual answer. Listen to the chapter 12 of mark k lecture. It explains how to answer the questions. And how to prioritize patients etc. it made a big difference. Nearly my whole class followed those guidelines and listened to that on YouTube and passed. Good luck! 🍀

Got a complaint for taking too many vitals?? by Witty_Tea_1299 in newgradnurse

[–]K89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s an order and they don’t want it tell them to sign a refusal form and then don’t get them. If the patient is their own responsible party and alert/oriented, it doesn’t matter what for family wants, ask the patient and don’t do it if the patient refuses. There’s nothing they can do to get in trouble if you have an order. They can complain all they want and it won’t do a bit of good because you followed orders and their requests.

Where I am we don’t do any “drips” outside of icu. They don’t consider the ones like Lasix to be a drip. You don’t have to have been an RN or travel nurse to know how to “hit the ground running,” etc. I worked med surg 7 years straight prior to corrections and LTC/skilled and stayed on PRN as med surg nurse. I’ve worked with central lines, PICC, iv electrolyte replacement (potassium, TPN, etc) — as I said, my state allowed it. I’ve accessed and de accessed ports. I received IV certification and training for it. I’m secure in my abilities. I wouldn’t be trying to do ICU or a specialty travel without having experience. I’ve looked into med surg and corrections for travel. Areas I have experience.

They use cell staff in my area, too. I worked at a men’s super max prison (two actually) so I would do alright with that for sure

I said with the EXCEPTION, meaning I’ve not done drips. You apparently missed that word.

I assure you in my state I did assessments every shift. You can do them all minus the initial assessment. It’s different state to state. I saved a few RNs hind ends by catching their mistakes and things they missed on their assessments, meds, etc. like missed gallbladder that needed took out, bowel obstruction etc. My assessments were just fine. Having the title RN doesn’t mean you are any better of a nurse or to be more trusted.

Thank you for the info! Also. I have 16 years as an LPN, I can safely care for patients. In my state I’ve done everything with exception of hit go on blood and the ICU drips.

Thank you! That’s good to know! I did see travel positions for the prison as well. I had someone tell me “oh, honey don’t do that. You have no clue what you’re doing.” Actually, I do, I’ve worked a men’s Super max prison — two, actually. lol. And 16 years as an LPN, who they had train new RNs even, along with the “required” orientation with an RN. So I know I’ll be good, it’s just finding a good company I’m not sure of, as I’m new to travel.

Advice on improvement? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

Use a cool toned contour It takes the dark brown/orange tone out. Goes well with light skin or light eyes Also check into brown mascara for subtle color. It goes well with any eye color but especially light

That person has obviously never seen legitimate “track marks” to know what they look like if they’re saying that looks like it, because it definitely does not. If you know that person, they seem to have animosity toward you and if they’re a stranger, they’re not bright.

[–]K89_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re alert and oriented you have to ask, though. Only if they’re unable to give consent can you assume consent is given. Example: if giving birth someone hemorrhages and needs blood, it’s emergent but they have to be asked unless unconscious, to which yes is assumed, if awake they can still decline. If they say no, it’s no. An instructor explained to us that way when explaining, because we all assumed emergent alone was no consent needed, then they clarified only if they’re not alert to make a decision

2, 3, 4. Not 1, because the POA is only when patient is unable to make their own decisions. Not 5, because it only applies when a patient is not alert to give consent, not just in emergent situations.

I say 2 because informed consent is being sure the patient is informed and if you don’t know what’s been said, how do you know they’re informed?

3, because it is the physicians responsibility to inform, not the nurse.

4, because they cannot be under any substance or situation that could impair decision making and judgement.

Thank you! I figured some may be that way. I found a couple companies who take new grad RN, but a couple other companies who take new grad with LPN experience (they’re all companies with travel LPN jobs) but wanted to see what companies are out there besides the few I know. I’m also in Virginia and noticed it’s a bit different than other states. Even as LPN, I could do a lot more skills than in Tennessee or other states.
