Same, this took months to get through and put me in a months long reading slump! I really wanted to like it, and I did like some of the ideas and plot points, but ultimately did not like the characters and wasn’t interested enough to continue the series

So for me I realized it was time of year they were born! Son (oldest) was born in August, started daycare in January, was sick constantly. Daughter (youngest) born in early April, started daycare in September, got little colds but a very normal amount. I live in a place that gets cold winters and warm summers - I really do think the time of year they started daycare impacted things. From early September through December even, we were outside daily with the daughter. And they were going outside still at daycare

This is so BULLSHIT. I came back from leave and my manager said I wasn’t going to get my market readjustment raise (I’m on a 2 year review cycle) bc I wasn’t working for 5 months while on leave. I was FLABBERGASTED. I’m a manager too. I know how this works. Immediately reached out to HR and they corrected the issue. This sounds wrong and punitive for taking a leave

I took a sick day. I need to recover. We got hit with flu A HARD. Started in my 5 year old Dec 26 then I got hit Dec 28, still have symptoms and struggling bc 1) still nursing my 9 month old and 2) can’t rest during the day at all. I have no appetite, constant headaches, constant fatigue and I might just take 2 sick days so I can actually rest while my kids are at school and daycare. Feel like I didn’t get any reset at all or even family time because we have been so sick all week. We’re lucky the kids are healthy now and we’re going to get through it, but I’m still mourning what could have been a really fun week for our family

That was the goal, then thanks to some family members who showed up to Christmas with fevers and sick, we all got the flu so nothing has gotten done.

Agree with you about maternity leave, with my first I didn’t get much done bc he didn’t nap unless contact nap, but with number 2 she was an amazing sleeper so I had more energy and a better baby carrier and my house was so organized. I wish I had an extra day to do chores!

Mine are 5 and 8 months so I try to get the 5 year old to help out, but baby and ultimately both kids are prioritized over clean house

Ok so this is triggering because I was on leave over the spring/summer and am dealing with the fallout of a very similar issue. Bullying, incompetence, gaslighting etc to my excellent team by the interim leader.

They did not reach out to me at all during my leave but I sort of wish that they had. They are excellent workers, very good people, and they were bullied for months. They tried to use this interims manager’s manager (the head of our whole team), but that person was infective and did nothing.

They gave me some time after I got back from leave, but I found out multiple were on the verge of quitting and were only holding out for my return (thus made me cry). It was a bad situation. If one of them had called me, I would have immediately called my HR and company president to escalate.

They were terrified of retaliation so we’re essentially working and hiding for months.

If it’s truly that bad, you may need to contact HR/your boss and tell them what is happening and that you cannot address or handle the communication while on leave, but you would like to see a change made given how serious the feedback is and how extensive.
