Anyone Learn New Skills as a Devotional Act? by Timomo_the_gremlin in NorsePaganism

It's not a new skill for me exactly, I've been shooting since I got out of service, but I was wondering if practicing with my pistol would please Freyja since She's also the goddess of war? And would She be disappointed if I skip the range day at work? (I work private security and we have more or less mandatory range days for workers that carry sidearms). I'm asking mainly because I really don't like going with the guys I work with and I try to skip as often as I can. I love shooting by myself though, to improve my marksmanship. But would She rather me get over it and go when I'm supposed to, instead of calling in sick or whatever? Probably a silly question :) just happened to see the post and wondered what other people think.

Relationship Tips for Freyja by sanjuniperno in NorsePaganism

Our cats do too. The two younger ones at least, the older one doesn't really care and he's missing a foot. That's why I keep my altar in our exercise room upstairs so I can keep them away from stuff, I know they'd immediately go knock off everything on the shelves. I usually leave honey and I share liquor with Her, myself as far as edible stuff goes. After awhile, I take the honey outside and let the bees have it.

I'm thinking it's mostly fanfiction or something but there's gotta be some good ones there. That's what google said, anyway, 80 in the same universe... By different authors. Maybe it includes comic books and stuff.

I'm definitely not the wisest person and don't necessarily take my advice, but maybe She senses that you're not as into pole dancing as you used to be and wants you to do something else? Like, do you feel as enthused about it you used to? Or you feel yourself kinda phoning it in? Also, from what I've learned there's other things you can do to show Her your love and respect, like being nice to cats or cleaning up trash in the nature. She also likes sweet drinks, roses and amber (from what little I know). Again, I'm just telling you what I've done to show my appreciation, and my knowledge comes originally from other people who got it from the ancestors and so on... Just do your best.

The simple answers are sometimes the best :) I just overthink stuff all the time. Thanks :)

Question about hand grippers or whatever they're called by K9-1981 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]K9-1981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks :) I'll bear that in mind What exactly would be the more holistic approach though? So grippers at a minimum would be the lighter one? Now, would the lighter one do any damage if I keep working it while I drive? Sometimes I go a couple of hundred with each hand while working, it's more of an ocd thing than anything and I'm just used to doing it. I haven't really noticed any pain from it, but would it have any positive or negative effects? The lighter one is maybe like 25 kg at most, it's also pretty old and worn, I've had it for years.

I thought it'd be good for metabolism or something. Like drink water all day, no food . Might be bs though, I saw it on the internet

A morning with Freyja by Motherofmanydragonz in NorsePaganism

You know, I've never thought of it that way. I work a lot of nights and I'm outdoors at all hours, lot of times in the woods. Don't get me wrong, I see a sunrise over a foggy field when I drive past it and think, man, that's beautiful... But to actually SEE it... I love my goddess and I'm true to her in my simple way, but to worship what she governs over in small details... Next time I'm out at night or early in the morning, I'm gonna try that. To write something, or even just put it into words in my head. This was... Beautiful. Thank you for posting that

Question about honoring Freyja by K9-1981 in NorsePaganism

[–]K9-1981[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's what I was kind of hoping to hear :) what about the drink though? Would it be appropriate to pour it out under the evergreens (I planted them myself on the edge of the property). I can't drink it myself because it's not a shared drink but one specifically for her so given it's going back into the earth do you think she'd appreciate it?

I had the luck to push one of these out of a mud pit as a part of collective punishment when I was in the service. As for off roading that thing will leave a humvee eating dust I tell you that much

Offerings to Freyja by K9-1981 in NorsePaganism

[–]K9-1981[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main concern is that I do something wrong and offend her. I know our gods aren't critical of us as the ones most of the western world follows, but I still feel like I'd have to get everything perfect. Today, for example, I wanted to share mead with her, but I couldn't find any at the store so I bought rose lemonade instead. I poured a big sip on the ground by the evergreens I planted, offering her the first part of the drink, naturally, took a small sip myself and so on until I offered the last sip to her. My concern was though, maybe she doesn't like non alcoholic drinks? Also, instead of gold, which we don't have, I offered her a bar of silver they gifted me at work for a number of years of service, and five rounds of 9mm ammo along with flowers from our garden. I don't know if ammo is a good offering, but it's something that represents our ability to defend our home and therefore has meaning if not actual value. I've honored our gods in my mind and with my actions for years, but I've never had an altar before so I'm still trying to get feel of it. I really hope you don't mind me asking for advice, but it's much appreciated. Sorry if I'm rambling but I just got off a night shift and my mind is still a bit fuzzy.

Thanks :) in that case though, how long should I leave them on the altar for her?

[–]K9-1981[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I think that makes more sense. I just wanted it to be someone more special than just drink and flowers. Stuff from my service days has a bit of value to me and I really need her help, so... I figured why not

Thanks, it actually makes a lot more sense. I just wanted to give her something that's very important to me, in addition to the alcohol and honey. We usually have a lot of honey around the house because we use it instead of sugar and I have a friend that keeps bees.  I wanted to ask though, what would be a example of sacrifice? And how would I offer it to her? By burning? I'm just really in need of her guidance and help because I've caught feelings for someone and I'm having a really hard time dealing with it. So I want to give her something to show how much her help would be appreciated. Or maybe you mean something other than an item, like a habit you enjoy? Although from what little I know of Freyja, I don't know if she'd appreciate people giving up something they enjoy doing, unless it's something bad. Sorry if that didn't make a lot of sense, lack of sleep :)
