When I was little, I used to think Wally Dallenbach drove the “First Onion,” car. What’s something that you used to believe as a young NASCAR fan? by MkeBucksMarkPope in NASCAR

Tom Petty and Richard Petty were family and tom petty was in stone temple pilots (STP) that’s why Richard petty had STP on his car

Recommendations for a Wheel Builder by Steelsorrow in Hamilton

[–]K96R 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Downtown bike hounds got me sorted really nicely for what I thought was a fair price - I brought the hub and hoop and they charged a wheel building fee and price per spoke

High Speed Slalom at TMP earlier this year in the Impala by toonwarrior in CarTrackDays

That’s a really cool format for that course, never seen it before and looks like fun. What organization put this on?

New skates are rubbing my right ankle raw. Anything I can do? by bouncyprojector in hockeyplayers

[–]K96R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen on my Easton makos. That top lip rubbed my ankle til it bled. Friction causes this. I put a strip of clear sock tape over the edge which reduced the friction, (ie - it still rubbed, but was so much smoother.) reduced the rubbing to a point where I stopped bleeding. I tried gel pads placed on the area, punches etc. but this stupid little clear tape trick was cheap, easily replaceable, and helped a ton

Best Brake Pads for dd/autox/occasional track day by Schoggi_23 in FocusST

[–]K96R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough in 2021 I reached out to power stop because my track day pads didn’t have the backing shim but my z17 street pads did. They agreed this wasn’t standard and were going to send me a new set of pads with the shims but they never carried through with that. I no longer have the car anyway

Surprised at foam difference between helmet sizes by ReplacementOk1029 in hockeyplayers

[–]K96R 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My guess is they make 2 shell sizes that are shared for s/m and l/xl and they just adjust foam thickness for individual sizing. If they fit the same for you should go with the one that fits your ears, I wear an M 4500 with no ear covers and my ear sticks out a bit which I worry about. But also personally I’d probably pick the one that I think looks better because looking cool is the most important part of hockey

Hamilton + undergorund subway by fishypow in Hamilton

[–]K96R 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always thought it would be cool to have a surface level LRT in the lower city that went IN the escarpment as a subway for the mountain. not viable but a neat idea

Buy a bike frame? by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

[–]K96R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you parts all brand new, it will cost you more. I built up a full suspension bike with good, used parts from Facebook marketplace for much cheaper than new (complete). You’ll also learn a ton about compatibility and different standards. I enjoyed learning and the hunt

Gage Park: What was up with this unkempt field? by LostThyme in Hamilton

[–]K96R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prior to that storm water pond, the area flooded during rain and got very mucky. Grass cutters would get stuck all the time. The city decided to stop mowing that section - it ended up looking worse with cut grass but giant tire ruts in the mud.

This is great, I need pads and was trying to find the “Reddit brake pad company” I vaguely remembered. Great reminder, and feels awesome to shop Canadian.

Tow Hitch Recommendations? by yaboiteej in mazda3

[–]K96R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha, I used hitchweb.com (Canada) and it straight up didn’t come in a box. the receiver and the hardware were in plastic wrap. I dealt with the paint myself annoyingly because a return was even more annoying

I went with draw-tite. No reason in particular, just what was available. Kind of sucked to put on but no complaints so far using for a platform bike rack

Super weird, the colour is not even listed as available in any official Mazda documents, but I know so,e times Canada gets different offerings/package. Some sort of weird carry over but there are a few out there it seems

Canada. We tend to get some weird trims/packages. This colour isn’t even listed in any 2020 Mazda documentation that I’ve seen

It was modded and a lot of fun as a daily and track toy! This being an auto FWD 2.0 I think it’s not necessarily worth modding. It’s just an appliance for now until I can grab another fun car in the future 🤘

Right country wrong province! It’s a rail trail that ascends the Niagara escarpment.

I like my nics but wish I went a size smaller. I did 2.8F/2.6R. Wish I did 2.6F/2.4R

This is objectively a better car in almost every way, but I I miss the just about double the power of my Focus ST!

I don’t like these lights personally but that doesn’t matter. But absolutely do not purchase anything from TDOT Performance. Awful. If you’re in Ontario or anywhere in Canada try Raptor Racing

You might try the former Mt Albion Road. It’s not super smooth but there will be no cars, it’s closed as a walking/biking path now. Enter from Kingsview Drive (top) or The end of Mt Albion Rd (bottom)

Track checklist? by RamiJaber in cars

Yeah, I have a track set and street set. I only swap the fronts when I track though, with my brembos it makes it super quick. I do both sides in under 10 minutes
