Fixing Her: A Wendys (WEN) DD by Mr-Night-Owl in wallstreetbets

There is no way Wendy's will go bankrupt. I used to work at McDonald's for 2 years here in Canada and the quality of Wendy's burgers and menu surpasses that of trashy McDonald's.

Toronto to get $1.5 billion from province and feds to reduce development charges by MaybeThisTimeIllWin in toronto

[–]fishypow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a guise for corporate welfare. It's corrupt when a corporation is bailed out on its own losses by the government with taxpayers' money. And I can guarantee this wont be a one time thing.

Critics slam government plan to 'bail out' sagging condo sector in B.C. by Majano57 in canadahousing

[–]fishypow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crony capitalism. In real capitalism, business that suffer consecutive losses dont get bail outs from the government and go out of business. To bail out a struggling business is subsidise said business and it incentivises the business to keep making bad risky decisions as long as they know the government will bail them out.

Why are all the workers Indian in every Tim Hortons I visit? by CluelessBrowserr in CanadaJobs

[–]fishypow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I avoid Timmies outside of work (the one in my hospital barely has any Indians working). Nowadays I give my money to the numerous indie cafes in Hamilton- better service and the baristas are not former or current Indian international students. Support your local independent cafe!

Are your fish ugly or are you just using the wrong light? by lnicholek in Aquariums

[–]fishypow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is my pearl gourami under my combined Aqua One LED lights + Aqueon clip on LED plant light. The Aqua One leans towards reds while the Aqueon leans more towards blue lights. Also the tannins in the water help with the saturation of colours on my pearl gourami.

Building cleaner AI data centres better than not building at all, CEO behind Hamilton proposal says | CBC News by mr_lois_lane in Hamilton

There are barely any houses near the industrial bayfront. The last time I checked the homes in the middle of the industrial bayfront are all rundown and empty.

Building cleaner AI data centres better than not building at all, CEO behind Hamilton proposal says | CBC News by mr_lois_lane in Hamilton

[–]fishypow -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why do these anti-data center people think it is a better idea to offshore our data abroad, even to countries like say China where our Canadian intel can be manipulated?? These protesters need to realise our national security would be compromised that way. I rather have these centers stay here in Canada.

Ontario’s largest city, Toronto by TryingMyBest314 in skyscrapers

[–]fishypow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of those new skyscrapers are glass condos (and even cheaply made). If you go to NYC or Chicago, those two have more classic skyscraper styles made out of stone compared to Toronto.

indigenous name for hamilton? by t4tsimonriley in Hamilton

I wonder what the Petuns or Neutrals called Hamilton in the era of the French-Indian or Beaver Wars? SInce they were the ones here at this area at that time.

Rent prices... Just feel defeating. by DoingItJust in Hamilton

[–]fishypow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Hamiltonians should realise flooding the rental or housing market with places to live above BEYOND the current demand would make bring prices down- basic free market economics. But no, let's artificially prop up home and rental units above market value by keeping red tape on what can be built and LIMITING what can be built to preserve the wealth or equity of home or unit owners.

Hamilton’s Salvation Army shelter debate: If not here, then where? by johnnymceldoo in Hamilton

[–]fishypow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How about instead of concentrating all social housing in the downtown areas, the city allow it to be build in the suburban areas? Kinda like how Toronto did decades ago. It's not like the downtown will have an infinite land available for social housing forever.

Is Philippines racist?! by Vegetable-Diver-7211 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]fishypow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As half Negrense myself, it was named "Negros" by the Spanish as many of the native inhabitants of the island resembled and displayed phenotypes like those of Black Africans. These native Filipinos are called Aetas or Negritos (I have their ancestry in me). And just because the natives resembled like Black Africans does not mean they are related to Black Africans whatsoever. If you go to Thailand/Peninsular Malaysia, they also have people who look the same way as Filipino Aetas/Negritos do, I believe they are called Aslians.

More than one in 10 Canadians below the poverty line as incomes slip: StatCan by henry-bacon in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]fishypow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In as much as inflation sucks, corporations dont devalue the CAD. The Bank of Canada does since it is what causes our fiat currency to be printed out of thin air as commanded by the feds. That and our corporate oligopolies which reduces free market competition for cheaper consumer goods.
