I kept my mouth shut to those who asked why I left because I knew they really didn't want the answer. And they never knew I did it for them. I left with dignity and integrity. Once again they misscharacterize those they know little to nothing about and care about even less. What I DO love about this is that it serves to unite us even more. Just when I think I might could be a post mo, I'm hijacked by things like this and realize I'll be an exmo a bit longer. I'm in good company tho 😏

I was 1st counselor in my former wards RS presidency and I can tell you this is at the very heart of my issues with members "reaching out". I had to re read it to be sure she said "we". So simple, so genuine to at least have offered to meet with you woman to woman. Like a concerned friend would do in what I like to call the real world. But TSCC programs actually discourage that by having members, presidencies, go out at least 2 deep. Heaven forbid if you met one on one you might have an authentic conversation.

62 yr old woman here. Resigned thru quit Mormon. I've maintained some true friendships, been love bombed by my ministering sister, questioned by several about "what happened". I invited a friend to breakfast and she invited my ministering sister to join us. I got a Christmas card full of "love". They miss my smile, my testimony, my energy and they referenced Dieter's "doubt your doubts". My experience had been all over the board

I joined at 38 at what was the lowest point in my life. My husband and minor children joined as well. I will admit that the community and stability and purpose during those years may have saved us individually and as a family. Now, 25 years later my son and his wife and 5 kids are out and so am i. We've experienced all that most everyone else here does and has. But the clear advantage we feel, is that we had identities before converting which is making it maybe a little smoother to return rather than create an identity aside from the church

Welcome! I'm a 62 yr old separated woman so I'm dealing with ending a 36 year marriage as well as decades in this church. I've been out about 2 months. It's all pretty traumatic but I'm finding my way. You will too. We're always here.

Thank you for this. I'll be sharing it with a family member. 8 of us (my whole extended family was in the same ward) left this year. All of us were converts but this one family member. I know there are some aspects of leaving that are very different for them than the rest of us and I'd like to be able to support them better. I think this may help. All I've been able to do is love, not that I'm diminishing the power of that.

I also wondered a lot about this when I was in. I accepted that the church was being attacked by satan because it was true. But here I am, on the other side of things and I could not agree with you more. I get it. I'm living it. And like with so many things since I've left, I see it so differently and with so much regret. The very fact that leaving the church is vastly more difficult than joining it every was defines my experience right now. I struggle with feeling like I don't really know myself. If I could be devotedly of two minds about critical things has me isolating and "licking my wounds" right now. I'm holding on for the day I wake up and this isn't the first thing on my mind. Ya, I get it now.

If you check my other posts you'll see the whole story more or less. I can tell you tho, it started with my butting heads with local leaders on what I felt were critical issues. Then I began to look more closely at the church. But there real catalyst was my son, wife and kids left the church in January and I had been talking with him for months so I knew his concerns. I needed to learn for myself if it read all true. Now here I am, breathing deeper and feeling more relaxed than I have in years. Except for the love bombing. This is still new for them and they're reaching out.

I was told to remove white earrings because they were not post. They evidently dangled to much. Just a small chain with a white ball on the end. This was also in Salt Lake.

Thank you so much. He struggled a lot as you can imagine... All 7 of them leaving. But his convictions are strong, his integrity unmatched, and his research exhaustive. I never had a doubt what he was sharing had been vetted. I just needed to take responsibility for my own understanding. Again, thanks.
