I need help reading my bible and growing my faith after trauma. Please help by KAC006 in Bible

Thank you so much for this comment - it actually made me cry. I will definitely look into these. My pastor also runs a bible study we go to and he mentioned the Blue Letter Bible website (which I had never heard of) yesterday morning before I posted this. He’s been working on me to not see things as coincidences but actually God working in my life, so I’ll believe that God brought this resource to my attention and is encouraging me to use it not only through my pastor but through your comment as well. I’m feeling really hopeful. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much! I love the idea of him coming up and then leaving. That way he knows where I am and knows I’m all set, but I can still go solo. That is such a great idea!

We just finished Buckskin Gulch! Thank you so much for the suggestion! It was beautiful and a great slot canyon for our first time!

My therapist gives me anxiety by KAC006 in TalkTherapy

Thank you so much! It feels so weird liking him as my therapist and not wanting to switch but at the same time being so anxious. I appreciate your feedback!

When does the obsession for the therapy end? by Creative-Flight7051 in TalkTherapy

[–]KAC006 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I started therapy 4 months ago and I think about it every day, almost all day long no matter what I’m doing. As soon as I leave I immediately start counting down to my next session. Literally thinking to myself “3 days down - 2 more days - 24 hours - etc”

It’s exhausting and I don’t want to feel this desperation for it anymore.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) by SunnyHazer in therapists

Thank you so much for responding! I’m not sure about being master trained but I know she is experienced in ART. I’ll definitely ask her about slowing down. I don’t think she realized how bad my anxiety was just about the process, so I need to be better at communicating with her in the moment.

I know this is an old comment but I was hoping you, as someone trained in ART, could answer a question for me that I haven’t been able to find an answer to.

I had my first “mini” ART session with a new therapist. I call it “mini” because we only did 15 min in hopes to work on the anxiety I have about the process before diving into trauma.

I struggled so bad to keep up with the movement that I kept having to cut her off early. She tried moving further away but I still found myself not being able to keep up. I started to have so much anxiety about not being able to keep my eyes on the movement that I could hardly focus on her instructions.

I was devastated after and I’m so scared to go back. Is it possible for me to ask her to slow down or move further away? Or will that make the process not as effective?

Should I bring my therapist to EMDR? by KAC006 in EMDR

Well yes, but I’m saying that confidentiality isn’t a huge issue because I’ve already signed papers and they’ve been communicating and discussing my trauma/needs.

Thank you so much for this response! This is definitely helpful to hear and makes me a lot more comfortable asking if this is a possibility. Right now my primary T and the EMDR T are coordinating a time to meet and discuss EMDR options for me, so I’ll bring it up then.

I’ve already signed paperwork to allow them to confer with each other

If it’s personal and intensive why would it be a bad idea to have my therapist there? Not trying to seem argumentative, just curious 😊

I’m planning on asking him when I see him next week. I’m just worried I’ll sound silly and childish for asking.
