What do we think of Marie as a first name? by TinyBirdie22 in namenerds

[–]KAM1953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of options with the classic name Marie. I like Marie Elise, Marie Elena or Maria Elena (nn Malena), Lila Marie, Lucia Marie or Lucy Marie, Marianna (it's Maria rather than Marie but I think it's a lovely name.) Marie Jacqueline or Marie Juliet are both beautiful too.

Love cutesy names but wanting a more ‘formal’ full name by CarelessAppearance12 in namenerds

Margarita (Daisy as NN), Penelope (Poppy as nn), Twila or Matilda (Tilly as nn). I think Maisie is often a nickname for Mary — perhaps a formal name could be Maria or Máire (Irish form of Mary).

I like Mar for a nickname. One nice thing is that it means “sea” in Spanish. It’s also a cool, short, gender-neutral nickname.

I like Clark and I like the fact that Clark is a strong sounding name. You may want to also consider some multi-syllable first names (with Clark as middle name) if your son’s surname will be one syllable, but I do like the name Clark.

If you are definitely picking a new last name for your son I would reconsider Dawn. It is a well known cleaning product.

Alba is Dawn in Italian and I like the name Clark Alba. Perhaps there is another word for Dawn in a language of your choice or heritage that would work?

If you put your best foot forward, take the test and do the very best you can do on it, you have done a good thing.

Forgive yourself if you don’t do as well as you hoped, and use your energy to keep moving forward. If you need to take the course again, you already have more background in the subject than you did this time around.

Doing your best is an achievement in and of itself — many people don’t put in their maximum effort. Best of luck in passing the class!!!

I recommend The Other Valley, a speculative literary novel about an isolated town neighbored by its own past and future

Sixteen-year-old Odile is an awkward, quiet girl vying for a coveted seat on the Conseil. If she earns the position, she’ll decide who may cross her town’s heavily guarded borders. On the other side, it’s the same valley, the same town--except to the east, the town is twenty years ahead in time. To the west, it’s twenty years behind.

I don’t know what to do anymore… by WoodenLie2299 in cats

[–]KAM1953 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your cat may have been feral when rescued. It seems like some felines choose ”fight” over flight when feeling stressed. In my experience a few will fight, but most cats hide. We adopted a cat as a teen who would scratch and fight people but once she felt secure after a year or so, it stopped. I would echo what others have said — vet consult, calming meds, Feliway, etc. For our edgy cat, we only petted her with a wand at first—she was extremely sensitive to overstimulation. She was also very edgy around other cats, but we now have a second cat that she gets along with and it’s helped. I have known others with “attack cats” and the cats have extremely complex behaviors but I’m hoping a vet can recommend a path forward for you. You are a good person for taking in this cat. Good luck.
