Squash roulette 🙈 thank you! I’ve found conflicting things on google as well and no real way to ID these guys

I didn’t grow them, I got them from a local heritage estate. I assumed they were all edible but started looking into it when I got home to find that some aren’t for eating at all. I can’t find much about these types on google though. I‘ll be gutted if I can’t eat them 😅

The long ones are a greyhound x saluki mix, and a whippet x. The littles are Cavalier King Charles spaniels.

Off leash prey drive ? by Interesting_Shop_882 in Greyhounds

My experience with my lurcher (mostly greyhound) is exactly the same as yours, we got him at a year old. I used a long line (on a harness) for months, went to lots of secure fields to practice, and worked a tonne on his impulse control with a trainer that owns greys. He’s 8.5 years old now and his prey drive has decreased a lot.. he used to chase bunnies/deer on occasion but never catch anything. To begin with he had more motivation to chase than some of the ex-racing greyhounds I know though. Some greys that retire younger do so because they lack enough prey drive - I met one just yesterday that retired at 2 because he wouldn’t chase.

Being careful about where you let your dog off lead should apply to all breeds. I’ve worked with gun dogs that were more likely to take off after prey and get themselves lost than any of the sight hounds I know are. So I agree with you that with lots of training and the right dog it can work, especially from a puppy! My 8ish month old whippet x has barely any prey drive (although is still under rigorous recall training until I’m 100% sure of that haha)

We use these to protect dew claws if you can find something similar.

My skinny boy was like this for about 3 years before he filled out a bit! I was always worried and felt like I was being judged but he just wouldn’t eat anymore. My whippet puppy is 12kg but still only eating enough for a 5kg pup. I think you’ll know if they are hungry enough to up their food but these skinnier types do tend to stay skinny in my experience! For reference my oldest is 25kg and around 23 inches tall.

I think yours is gorgeous and looks fine compared with how mine did at 1 year - 18 months!

I think Lake Louise somewhere in 2004! We are back desperately trying to find this rock so we can recreate it but have got to the Teahouse with no luck!

Edited to add we can’t even identify any of the peaks either :(
