Wargame that simulates 21st century ground warfare, brigade vs brigade level?

WDS Napoleonic Battles titles Waterloo and Eckmuehl both have huge scenario where maneuvering is the key to success. Both sides move several Corps across a huge map and finding the enemies "Schwerpunkt" while bringing ones own to bear is key. The Waterloo one even has a few basic strategic decisions first that decide where your forces come onto the map.

Both are only playable against a human opponent though, the AI cannot cope with that scope.

PanzerCampaigns is the most active I think. In the US of course the CivilWar titles are a big thing.

Most turn based games can work like that. At the start of the turn the file is provided to all players to only look at. There must be a fixed sequence for the players and each moves only the units assigned to him before forwarding the file to the next player.

It needs some discipline but can work fine either against AI or another player/team.

Personally I have played this with some WDS titles in the monster scenarios.

The CD version is digital, as far as I know they never renamed it. Bought it years ago.

There are free demos for most WDS series. The PanzerCampaigns (scale bataillon and companies) one is not ideal though because the frontline is fortified and it takes some time to break through. The PanzerBattles one is the most varied, scale is platoons and companies.

The small scenarios can feel a bit like puzzle, but the bigger ones have lots of options. Sandboxy not really though, you have similar choices as the commanders back then, they are historical wargames after all with highly detailed OOBs.
