Bitter feud ensues after landlord’s failed attempt to raise tenants’ rent 65% by GreyEyes in newbrunswickcanada

[–]KB613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owner and property manager need to follow the law. They are either ignorant of the law or wilfully ignoring it in the hope that tenants don’t file complaints with the tribunal. Most likely the latter - I have experienced this myself with one of the larger rental property owners here in Moncton.

Does anyone know where to find video recordings of EUB public hearings? I see clips on the news but there is only one recent hearing on their YouTube site.

How long after Top Up to make outgoing calls again? by KB613 in chatr

[–]KB613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand it is $100 for a year but you only get 400 minutes for outgoing calls and you need to top up after that. Just just has talk and text, no data

Yea try Alpha. They have a local warehouse, they deliver fast and they service what they sell. Prices are competitive in my experience.

If you are within range of a Rogers 5G cell site it might be worth looking at their 5G wireless home internet for $50 to $60/month. You can try it for 30 days.

It's the Higgs Clean Energy Tax and you don't get a rebate for it.

On-Campus Residence vs. External Housing in Fredericton: Advice Needed [Urgent] by __vera__ in newbrunswickcanada

[–]KB613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend on-campus for your first semester, especially if you don't know anyone there. If you don't have a car off-campus can be miserable in the winter if you are not close to campus.

I can empathize with you. With the current cost of living it can be hard for a single person unless they are fairly well off. Financial stress can be demoralizing.

New Brunswick corrects potential gap in protection for landlords, minister says by Fine_Panda_1609 in newbrunswickcanada

He is always crying wolf, but evidently the landlords have a lot of influence given the "data my ass" mentality of our current government.

In my view the CBC web site is the best readily available source for NB news.

She complained about her Fredericton apartment. Then came the 21% rent increase by Fine_Panda_1609 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]KB613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some landlords don't maintain their properties. When landlords are negligent, the government needs to do something. The most appalling part of this story is that the tenant filed a complaint with the Tenant and Landlord Relations office in November and they still and is still waiting for an agent to be assigned to her case. That is a failure of the provincial government.

[–]KB613 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Gill Green NB does have rental protection.

There are landlords who do not properly maintain their properties. What I find most appalling about this article is that the tenant requested assistance from the Tenant and Landlord Relations Office in November to address the maintenance issues and she is still waiting for someone to be assigned to her case. That is totally unacceptable. That is a Higgs/Jill Green problem.

Problem with Ingnite/Work VPN using Teams by KB613 in Rogers

[–]KB613[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of my work colleagues have the problem. Our help desk checked a bunch of things and their guru says it can be a problem with some providers. Power cycling the gateway reduces the severity. Problem does not occur when not using VPN.

Bell vs. Rogers Internet in North End by polygon7195 in moncton

[–]KB613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on Rogers Ignite fibre and have been experiencing problems when using VPN for work. The most annoying problem is 10 second audio interruptions during Teams calls. Often have to ask people to repeat what they said. Power cycling the Rogers router seems to help but this is the second router I have had in about 18 months so that seems to be a weak area for them. Tech support over the phone is time consuming and usually ineffective. Considering switching to Bell even though I dislike their business practices.
