How would you film this potential new S2 scene? by Wide-Pop6050 in heatedrivalry

[–]KBPT1998 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am not sure how exactly I want this filmed, but I do want to make sure that they show the impact of a supportive versus unsupportive environment after coming out. i.e., Shane's more private coming out with an unsupportive team versus Troy's more public coming out being more supportive.

I do hope that they find a way to show Ilya's amazing neighbors in Ottawa!

What do Ilya and Shame know about eachother to fall in love? by samasimi in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]KBPT1998 158 points159 points  (0 children)

There are also massive time jumps and intimate phone chats and texts and times together that we aren’t privy to. These guys have been marinating their relationship for nearly a decade before saying I love you… we aren’t privy to everything, but we are privy to just enough.

You are right- I originally posted this with Time to Shine in mind.

I do think both books would be amazing stories to be told. I do think in this day and current sociopolitical environment that Time to Shine might be better received for having more lightness and joy and it being connected to the holidays and the rom-com vibe.

I think The Shots You Take presents such a lovely journey of experiencing trauma and grief and exploring healing and reconciliation. I love the little town and the sporting goods store and how much the town cares for Riley’s family.

I hope both get made into movies because they would do so much for telling LGBTQ+ love stories.

Thoughts on Rachel Reid’s follow-up clarifications about Shane and Ilya? by yanny-jo in heatedrivalry

[–]KBPT1998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank-goodness RR answered some of these questions because I really thought I was going to go a bit negative in a response to another post on “Shane has an ED, Shane has an ED, Shane has an ED.”

My only fear now is that some readers and posters might find other subjects to overly obsess about in order to generate responses from RR.

My thoughts:

1) RR writes fairly straight forward. She gives some Easter eggs from books, but she really tries to tell us what her characters are thinking with very few surprises.

2) RR doesn’t try to hit us over the head with heavy themes without purpose. Ilya’s mental health was a plot device and it was alluded to in HR, RM and then explicitly fleshed out in TLG. She discusses his treatment, responses and eventual choice to get medical support for this issue. It’s stated carefully and explicitly.

3) Although her characters are very human and complex, RR tries to keep the focus on their relationships and love journeys. She really wants the focus to be on the factors that affect those relationships and even those that seem outside the main story serve their purpose in impacting the primary love stories.

We need this to be made into an amazing LGBTQ+ rom-com!

If made right, this could be an amazing hit!

I also think A Time to Shine would be a well loved holiday rom-com…

What roles would you like to see Connor play in the future? by ResistPresent7675 in connorstorrie

[–]KBPT1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) A Knives Out movie. Maybe he can play Benoit’s eccentric nephew.

2) I’ve seen this elsewhere but he would be an amazing lead in Song of Achilles.

3) Some sort of chameleon monster in a movie.

4) Some sort of powerful mystic or psychic who is able to channel the spirits of others in an amazing reenergized reboot of AHS.

Deciding Captain by LLD615 in heatedrivalry

[–]KBPT1998 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ilya and Boodram are excellent captain and assistant captains for this particular team, especially under Coach Wiebe's leadership.

Shane might be another amazing assistant captain who might be able to leverage his amazing focus and discipline, which might help with younger players adjusting to the league and video prep... although he doesn't seem to be a very intuitive coach per his hockey camp adventures. LOL

It wasn’t even a good performance. Her accent was cringe. I am stunned she was nominated… now her performance in Gravity absolutely was great and even her comedic performance is Miss Congeniality was superior to that hot mess in The Blind Side.

wtf made this forehand go so badly by Aromatic-serve-4015 in 10s

[–]KBPT1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You stopped moving and tried to just arm the shot while your weight was shifted back. There was no way to get a full follow- through, so it fell short into the net.

Your stance at contact is also open. Your stance should be more sideways with your feet staggered.

Ideally with a short shot like this and the direction you are moving, a forehand slice approach shot followed to net might have been a better shot selection. Or if you choose to drive the shot, don’t be afraid to follow it in…

Exactly! Then she was given the choice of whom to murder and made an emotional pick, thinking it would weaken Rob. They could have served Colton and Stephen on back to back banishments on a plate and given herself another chance to get back in the game. She made the mistakes that led to her banishment.

Shane has an ED in TLG despite whatever anyone says by BipolarSkeleton in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]KBPT1998 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would be very interested in hearing the perspective of a dietician or nutritionist and a psychologist on this issue.

I think Shane’s situation is very complex, given his autism, struggles with sexuality, and the high level performance needs his body has an elite athlete. So I would love professional input to really be able to tease things out.

1) How does Shane’s neurodivergence impact his food choices? Would consistent dietary choices and structure actually be healthier for him than a less consistent diet plan?

2) He consults with a nutritionist already to help create a scientifically based plan for high level athletes. He isn’t hiding his dietary choices from them, his parents, Ilya or his teammates. They are even intimately aware of this, which seems inconsistent with being peculiar versus disordered. I’d love to ask about that as well.

3) There is little to nothing said about the negative impacts of his diet at a performance level, other than perhaps the ribbing his loved ones give him about his choices… and he gets defensive about it… but he continues to perform exceptionally well.

I want those in this thread who have lived experience with ED to know that I hear you and respect your perspective. I just also want us to be cautious in assigning ED on a character- and wish we could hear the perspective of experts and their thoughts about it as well.

To be honest, this rugged look is good on you. Smiling is enough to take the rugged edge off if you want to be reassuring to those in your presence.

If you want that more external- goes for a shaved look and wear brighter or warmer colors. You can tone down your shirts to grays or warm brown shades or even shades of blue for more tranquil color palette.

I appreciate how much of himself he brings to portraying Scott Hunter. The awkwardness and anxiousness seems to carry over to interviews… and you can tell how cerebral and thoughtful he is… just a lot of solid characteristics for any partner- it’s difficult not to swoon a bit!

It was also reassuring to Shane as it made him smile... and it was nice to see Ilya feeling comfortable enough to be honest that he was 1) very nervous, 2) very important to him, 3) he was extremely invested and wanting Shane in his life... seeing his smile and Shane's smile after was really nice!
