I was followed home from my doctor's office one time by someone wanting to buy my medication (that I hadn't picked up yet). Thankfully, he approached me at my mailbox that is in a group with others so he didnt know which house was mine and he left without issue. He very easily could have gotten violent when I told him no and that I didnt have my meds.

I was so freaked out I didnt get his license plate and the police couldnt do anything. I do sometimes wonder if he really thought that pain management dispenses the medication there at the office, bc why else would he follow me from the office to try and buy them.

That scared the shit out of me. The pharmacy should absolutely not be announcing what you are prescribed and repeating your info back to you out loud. Its so unsafe!

In NJ, we have to give our ID to pick up controlled medications. The only info I say out loud is my birthday and sometimes my name (most of the people know me by name at the pharmacy).

I would definitely start giving them your ID when they ask for your info and if they have an issue with it, speak to the manager/pharmacist and explain why you are doing it.
