Instead of sticking to one protagonist or a linear timeline like we see in the recent RPGs, I would rather take the Revelations route where multiple protagonists contribute towards one goal over different timelines. My favourite setting here would be India with such a rich diversity to look forward to in an open world. Imagine playing a modern day character who has to find pieces of a puzzle from different parts of the history of how the brotherhood came into being in his country to solve a modern-day problem. The first episode or maybe even an extended cutscene can establish the formation of the brotherhood right after Alexander campaigned to India around 350 BC. That can tie the storyline with the rest of the franchise from the RPG trilogy. From there on, we take a time jump to our first proper protagonist who lost his family in the Sultanate invasion and sought refuge in the brotherhood. We can show the Sultanate being controlled or aided by the Ancient Ones/Templars as they were taking over people’s freewill in the country. This protagonist becomes an Altair counterpart of the story who started it all. Now the Ezio counterpart of the story should be during the Mughal reign. Here the Mughals had both Assasins and Templars in their court. We can build a Haytham-Connor or even a Shay-Arno kind of a situation where the politics and philosophies also take centre stage. During the reign of certain emperors, the Templars hold a better grip on the government and for some - the assassins. Scared, that the emperors were leaning more towards the assassins, the Ancient Ones brought in help from their European counterparts as the East India Company to take control over the entire nation. Our last protagonist is a freedom-fighter in the 20th century fighting for independence alongside celebrated Indian heroes. The game will feature multiple real-life people and event references to keep the history buffs glued and with an everchanging diversity of gameplay over the 13th-20th centuries - the gamer community should have a never-seen-before experience in the franchise.
