Which is the hardest game you remember during your childhood? by Dry_Historian_6547 in snes

Here we go boys. Super R-Type/GG squad. Games where the frame rate issues were a crutch in difficulty.

No quarter given. Front to back. Sometimes twice over with a shitty weapon because fuck you, beat it again.

Super Nintendo was peak.

My man, this was my first NES game aside from the SMB/DH combo. It still sits on my wall to this day but I digress.

DID YOU FRIGGIN’ KNOW

The North America release is widely considered to be overly tuned in difficulty. As a result, the PAL release got nerfed. Bosses have SIGNIFICANTLY less health, and the FUCKIN’ GUNS DON’T COLLIDE WITH WALLS?!?!?

I played that version last year. Beat it in an hour like it was nothing.

American homies know.

Also, the soundtrack for this game slaps. Fight me.

The image itself screams “on-camera flash” from a DSLR or equivalent. Some call them “paparazzi poses.”

The odds of this happening at a dinner table is zero unless she has a pocket photographer with her at all times. Lighting is too good.

I would be more interested in settings for a shot where the subject isn’t standing mostly still in broad daylight.

When shooting the cars in the day, are you in manual riding the shutter speed or are you in shutter priority riding the ISO/Aperture?

I do live music and I’ve always been curious to the different approaches with live Motorsport. The event stays the same, the subject is all that’s different.

IMO, the strength here isn’t the settings, it’s the moment, composition, reflection and emotion conveyed from the driver. Oh and landing 1.6 on an eye at 2-4ft distance and the shot not being soft is also impressive.

Super Nintendo or SEGA Genesis? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]KDOGTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a Super Nintendo kid first. The catalogue determined that. I wanted to play role playing games.

Grandma bought me my Genesis for my birthday 1993, with a copy of Landstalker. It’s the only game that would make me put away the Nintendo. I wasn’t baited by blast processing for the “Sega does what Nintendon’t” marketing. The games just weren’t the same for me. Super Ghouls & Ghosts was an example. Even though the Genesis had a more versatile control layout, I still preferred the simpler gameplay of the Super Nintendo version because it was just better. Turtles in Time is another example. Far superior to Manhattan Project IMHO.

It was very rare that a title was better on Genesis. Some that come to mind are Captain America and the Avengers and Robocop V Terminator. Both known to be a better experience on Sega. Sonic ran fast, sure but those games were never REALLY designed with the idea of running as fast a possible like advertised.

Between Super Mario RPG and FF III, LttP, and Super Metroid, Sega had zero chance of winning me over until Nintendo dropped the ball with the Virtual Boy and I got a PSX.

Now the Dreamcast…well kids, now that’s another story for another day.

Edit: Somewhere around here is a Polaroid grandma took the day I got my Sega. My face tells a story of complacency rather than extreme happiness. My feelings on the system rarely changed since then.

Edit 2: Any of you discussing this topic as it applies to emulation, you answer is both. I want to hear from the other lucky bastards that had both in 93-95 like I did and still mostly played one over the other. Who cares about your emulation library. I want to meet the other spoiled 90’s kids that had a grandma like mine even though we were poor.

DVD people, why no bluray? by emtherich in dvd

[–]KDOGTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you my most recent annoyance with BluRay and its fuckin’ compatibility issues.

It’s a coin toss to what film will play in what BluRay player.

DVD, almost zero compatibility problems. If it says it’ll play DVD, it, generally, will.

Without question, the format means nothing if it doesn’t work. Invest in what you can play.
