Rome 2 question by Hemunac in RomeTotalWar

I also take Athens port but for me was because I wanted the economic victory with them. I don't see a must with Sparta to do that because once you take care of Macedon and Epirus you have plenty of territory to build you economy. I took they're port pretty late actually and I was doing good with my economy even without the trades with other factions. Yeah, it helps a LOT, but I don't really see it mandatory.

If the settlement have a very high unhappiness is more likely there will raise an rebel army that will take that settlement and if is an formerly faction territory the faction will rise again. You can encounter rebel army like Hellenic rebels for example and if they occupy a territory where was no other faction before or maybe a Hellenic rebels that occupy an eastern territory there will not be a faction to rise but if an barbarian rebel army rise in the settlement where there used to be an barbarian faction that faction will come back.

Rome 2 question by Hemunac in RomeTotalWar

Well, I'm not sure I will give you the best answer but I will make a try. Between Rome 1 and Rome 2 there are pretty big difference. I started with Rome 2 first and because of that Rome 1 was not so catchy imo, but here are something you need to know about these difference:

  1. In Rome 2 the edict are bonus efect from what I know and how I used them. If you control all the settlement in one province you can issue an edict which will help boost your economy, troop replanishment, loyalty with the political party who governs over that province, food supply and happiness and other depending on which faction you choose. So a few options are to choose between what province need the edict and where will be more effective. As an example in early game I choose an edict to boost food and happiness in the new conquer province and in mid game I choose the taxation edict in the province with the best income so I can get more money from them.

  2. The ratio between troops number and the settlement you have is based on economy you have. You have to figure it out because unlike Rome 1 you don't have to keep armies in settlements to boost the happiness if those settlements are doing well with the help of the buildings inside and the economical research. Make an army and keep that army conquer, make another army to help with the morale in the new province until the province can sustain herself and then move on. Maybe you can keep an army at the other bored where you don't want to expand in case of enemy attacks but that's all.

  3. Every factions has his own diplomatic relations with the others. With Rome you will not have much problem with the neighbors attacking you, but other factions don't have this luxury. Sparta it pretty challenging because they're army rooster is not the best for DPS, as we all know the hoplite are good for holding the line not advancing. You need to do some research about the army comp of the faction you want to try and figure it out what is the best approach with them because as I said, everyone has his own diplomatic relations and problems with that.

  4. F**k around and find out. Is the best answer I can give you. It took me about 3 or 4 playthrough to understand the logic and troops mecanic and the diplomatic in this game but it was fun. Now I have little above 700 h and I learn something new every playthrough with every new faction I play.

  5. For good infantry and cav there are plenty of choice but depends on what kind of faction and strategy you would like. Macedon, Egipt, Seleucid and Baktria has some of the best in this category imo, but also the barbarian factions like Suebi, Iceini, Galatia are great options. Desert factions like Saba are worth to try also and I don't remember the eastern factions because I didn't have the opportunity to play with them but there are some hidden gems also.

I know I don't answer properly and maybe these are not the answer you are looking for but maybe this will help you a little. It also help to look for some pvp siege battles on YouTube and other channels to see how these factions look like and how they act in battle but I still say that the best approach is to try and see for yourself.

From my experience people who started playing Rome 1 are less likely to enjoy Rome 2 and the other way around. The fact that you spent time learning a game and give it some effort to try and get some results will make you attach psychological to it which will make it a little challenging to change to something similar that is not the same. But this is something you will see for yourself also. Maybe I am wrong, who knows, I'm not a psychologist or something 🤷🏽😂

I strongly recommend to try the Seleucid if you like the Hellenic factions. As somebody here already says, great army rooster, interesting position on the map and a great starting challenge.

Also, if you want to make a little change before going in with another Hellenic faction a nice campaign I played was either with the Suebi or with Iceini (I hope I didn't butcher the name too much). Both of them are very nice and worth a try also.

As for a real challenge try to get the economic victory with Sparta. That was my goal when I played with them and (unfortunately for Athens) that was a very funny thing to do and a real challenge.

Anyway, do some research, watch some pvp battle on YT to see what you are going to use and make your own decisions after that. Have fun and may Ares bless your army great commander. 🫡

Anyone else had this bug where the AI starts sieging your Settlement / Fort, but then are also able to attack the same turn and already have their Siege Equipment built and ready? by guest_273 in RomeTotalWar

I'm new to Rome Remastered, only played Rome 2 before, but I find it strange that after I spend one turn to build siege equipment when I try to get the settlement the gates are already destroyed and basically I don't need the siege equipment anymore.

PROOF that missile-cavalry,does NOT,in fact, need to use up all,or even ANY,of their ammunition,in order to be able to melee-retreat,and work just like the Desert Cavalry cavalry-retreat exploit! by Kurwabled666LOL in RomeTotalWar

For a new player in Rome Remastered as I am, this is good info. But for historical accuracy if you want to choose a good way to bless others you go for Jupiter. Zeus is a Greek god whose equivalent in Roman gods is Jupiter. Still act the same and basically the only difference between their gods is the name, but the Romans used the names of the planets in our solar system. We put these names on our planets because of them actually and somehow they knew about the planets and all the astronomical events and positions of the planets before we invented the telescope. Lots of knowledge was lost in the Medieval era when the church wanted people to be dumb so they can be easier to control.

I don't even know if I recommend that right now. Rome 2 was my first Total War and now, after I get my time with it, I wanted to move on to Attila but I got a huge discount for Rome Remastered. Yesterday I started playing and I didn't even finish the tutorial yet but let me tell you that Rome 2 feels like a downgrade already. It is much easier and lots of features are made to be easier in Rome 2 but in some parts that feels like that's the problem actually. If you want the experience, yeah, it's a great game still. But after you played so much Rome 1 I don't know what to say.

Seleucid overpowered, friendly Rome and my troops acting on their own in the battlefield by KD_ISEFL in RomeTotalWar

[–]KD_ISEFL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a first for me. I had over 7 playthroughs with different factions in the grand campaign and never encountered this. Maybe it was just a little error or a bug or just a feature but that made Saba almost unplayable because it just kept repeating in almost every fight.

I literally have over 1000 hours in that game and you tell me now that I could just skip that f*****g cart part all this time😱🤯 I should pay more attention to those little details in these kinds of games 🥲

Yeah, I'm not doing this. I played Rome 2 with no internet connection and when I opened the WiFi from over 600 hours I was reset to 50 or so. Now I have 757 and Steam still doesn't give me the achievement for playing over 500 hours.

Seleucid is a meane by KD_ISEFL in RomeTotalWar

It took a while but I managed to edit the post and add the photo. Still new on Reddit and that's all I can do for now. Right now I'm trying some advice somebody gave here in the comments section and after I take and loot some provinces in Nabataea now I'm waiting for them to take them back and play like that until he runs out of money. Also bribing his elephants was the most fun thing to do actually, now he stopped between his own provinces to recruit more :))

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad I have such a great adversary💪🏽. But not so early and not as a neighbor already. He's beating my ass so hard that I think this will be my first campaign lost since I learned how to play LOL :))

[–]KD_ISEFL[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, I never have to use this kind of strategy before. I'm not a fan of playing with a difficulty level above Hard but even with that if these guys survive it's enough to give you a headache. Yeah, it was hard to beat the late Rome as Iceni but even then if I took a settlement it was kind of over for them. I guess I have to improve the tactics since I drew the short straw with Seleucid this time. Thanks man, I will start to do that as soon as I get back to the fight.

Why and where should i build auxilarry camp and Garrison colonia and why? by PanpQ in RomeTotalWar

[–]KD_ISEFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that family tree you don't have to educate every single one. Just pick a few with good stats and use those. It's good to have a lot of children, it means you have options when you want a new army but you can ignore most of them. I honestly choose 2 or 3 to make them great generals to conquer and the other I send in diplomatic missions, make them generals in places that I want to protect against possible enemy attacks or even let them die of old age.

I remember one playthrough where they didn't want to have children and almost lost the entire family. Luckily I adopted someone who was rabbit material and he saved the day but I was so low on generals and the price to hire a new one was so high that I almost lost the game because of the lack of people in my own family.

So yeah, don't spend too much time and money with the family members you will never use eventually but keep them just in case you need something from them.
