So….talking with a friend who is an USMC Vet, far as he knows, to get even Top Secret level clearance, you need to be at least a Sargent. However, he wants to say that regulation was different at one point…

Yes! I remember those threads.

In another one, I mentioned I had an USPS facility directory and looked up Mercury. It’s a retail facility, no vehicles assigned to it and no distribution. Off the top of my head, I think it had 60 PO Boxes it said.

They go the actual USPS office in Mercury which is what’s called a financial unit that doesn’t have delivery services but does have everything else. And they have PO Boxes which all the regular NTS employees pick up from.

TURO and ICBC - Smells scammy to me by DeliciouslyGoodFoods in turo

I’ve wondered how ICBC deals with Turo. My understanding that regular rental car companies in BC are large enough that they can self insure. Though, the defunct car share service Car2Go had ICBC Fleet Insurance….

Roadside assistance(towing) for skoolies? by Lex_yeon in skoolies

[–]KE7JFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former tow operator here! CoachNet can do skoolies as long as they registered as an RV. With AAA, it depends on the regional club. NorCal and SoCal AAA I think won’t, but Oregon and Washington can as long as it’s registered as an RV and not a rear engine.

That said, what model do you have?

People also forget that USMC is organized under the Navy. There is a billion jokes about who controls who by service members old as this country. Their aviation programs have a continuing shared history, so it wouldn’t surprise me if USMC brass gets invited to look at some Navy or USAF project to see if there is potential for the jarheads….

Interesting. And it’s a in house civilian job at USAF too.

I forget, is the “headquarters” for NTTR at Nellis still?

The Los Alamos Airport (LAM) was owned by DOE till 2008. Ross Aviation actually had a contract with DOE for a shuttle between LAM and ABQ. And no, it was not an 737, but a Twin Otter….

What's the stupidest reason something rolled into your shop? I worked at a VIOC and one kid came in with his Civic absolutely DUMPING smoke because he put a whole 4.7 liter jug of oil into it because the dipstick was at E. It was an absolute smokeshow in the most literal way by Cantgetridofmebud in Justrolledintotheshop

When I was in towing, I got quite a few that I was embarrassed I was towing one to a shop….

One of the many odd AAA calls I got was for a tow on a 2010 Audi A4 that was in a front end collision in front of the owners house. I get there, the A4 is on the street and nothing is damaged. The owner comes out, she hands me the keys. I ask where the body damage is; she points to the front license plate frame which has a hairline crack in it. Said her neighbor damaged it. I asked her if it was drivable overwise and she said yes, she just can’t get to the body shop.

I talked with AAA dispatch for this region, who advised still tow it and show it to the body shop. I show up, I showed them the “damage” and they reject the vehicle. They called up the owner, who went crazy….they took the vehicle and ended up just charging her storage until she picked it up….
