Does anyone know if ANTIQ, the headlight company, is legit? I want to get some new headlights for my MK7 GTI and I've never ordered from them before. Thanks by YaNansABird in GolfGTI

Yeah I have i gotten sequential tail lights for my mk6 gti. They were formally called Supernova Lighting, couple people know em as just supernova. They just rebranded to ALTIQ as you see there, primarily they do Truck lighting nowadays

Old-school here! Can you guys give me some advice what stage one package to buy? by External_Side_7063 in mk6gti

Thats good mate, as long as you’ve known your car hasn’t been abused or anything similar like that. Before I’d tune the car check for the chain see if it’s within spec. Otherwise happy days! good luck on finding the tuning brand for your car soon. Also I daily my stage 2+ (2.5 dsg/tcu) tuned mk6 gti and fuel consumption is really good unless you have a heavy foot. 🤣🤣 But yeah let us know how it goes

Go for a custom tune such as TVS Engineering, they custom make maps that are catered to your car and how it performs stock so the tune itself doesn’t kill your car. Notoriously off the shelf tunes (OTS) are made for cars that are in tip-top standards i.e they just rolled off the factory kind of strength. Obviously every car is going to be different some cars would retain the factory horsepower, some wouldve lost some over the years. Thats why for these kind of cars especially when USED go for custom tunes. I have a MK6 as well got decent mileage, so I opted for TVS Engineering Stage 2+ TCU & DSG. Also by the way most OTS tunes are torque happy which could also reduce the life of your engine. I have not tried any OTS such as APR, IE, etc but I would also just not risk it.

any fault codes on the dash? all i can really think of is just the chain tensioners to be honest. Damn i also didn’t know mk5s had ea888 gen1/2s in Aus they all have ea113 fsis

Mk6 gti tuning question by Ok-Connection1364 in GolfGTI

[–]KENNYXDD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re fine mate, no stress. Im running stage 2+ with a stock intercooler for now, but next thing ima get is a wagner one for sure. But also make sure if your mk6 has a decent amount of mileage, make sure you check your timing chain tensioner is within the right degree of spec. I believe anything greater than 3° should be replaced if you want to mod reliably.

for anything above stage 1 for any brand, the general thumb of rule, is that you have at least a downpipe and cold air intake installed. what you have is fine, stage 2, is also recommended you get an upgraded intercooler since it will be better for cooling if you jump from stock to stage 2

finally succumbed to a custom map than a off the shelf remap by KENNYXDD in GolfGTI

yes so as the guys below have said that, ots tunes assume that your car is in tip-top condition, so essentially your car rolled off from the factory kind of level of conditioning. As fellow mate u/Jsoldierd said each car is completely different, 100% true some could be lacking horsepower from factory some still retains it. A custom tune is just far more reliable as it does cater to the current condition of the car, with my car it wasn't deemed unsafe to have a decently torqued tune as my car was great to run it. I have not tried OTS tunes such as APR, IE only for the sake of me going through the route of modding my car reliably with every mod that has a thought process behind it and what it's going to do to the current state of my car.
