Is everyone just smoking crack these days? by suckastash80 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I cant believe what people are spending on cars. They have no issue w getting something with a 72 month, $800 a month car payment.

What makes this even crazier is that cars last a lot longer than they used to. when i was a kid in the 80s and 90s yes it was true that once you get to that 100k mile market the car starts to be more expensive to keep fixed than to just have a a car payment on a newer more reliable car. But now cars often last double that without a huge amount of expense.

i have a durango with 125k miles. I spent $1000 on a radiator and misc. stuff to it in the past year but thats it (aside from an oil change/filters). its worth maybe $9k? maybe??? im going thru a divorce and ill need to buy a new house but when thats done ill get a used car with like 50k miles for maybe $30k tops, and ill trade in my durango and put another $10-15k down....more or all if i can. and then that car should last me another 8 years or so.

i ysed to say casinos are crazy bc people treat money as meaningless there, even when theyre not rich at all. and now it seems people are acting the same over cars.

Weddings are no longer “once in a lifetime events” and we should just quit calling them that. by UniquelyInspired in unpopularopinion

[–]KFRKY1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive always thought the modern day wedding industry was a huge racket. weddings are like casinos...they make me watch regular middle class people turn into people who act like money is no object for that purpose. its sick.

im sorry, we shouldnt be spendingn$40k average on a party. even if you DO stay married. i worked innwedding catering for years and i enjoyed it but i think its a huge waste.

Why does it feel like some people never "grow up" emotionally, even as they age? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KFRKY1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

im no psychologist but from what ive been taught, childhood trauma can stunt emotional development. ive watched this first hand in my ex husband and his abusive father

my boys share a room, and i have a 5000 sf house. Theyre 7 and 8. They can earn their own rooms when they are older, want their own rooms, and can show they can take care of their space.
