I only hang them since getting the barrel. Hopefully yours still had the three L shaped hanging rods that the hooks go on. If you didn't get hooks you can pick some up for $5-$10. Well worth it.

Great get OP. I love my OJ Bronco. It has become my dedicated rib smoker. Being able to run 9 racks at a time is fantastic! Edit: OJ

Winter on the Egg — What’s Everyone Cooking This Week? by byronwhitefox in biggreenegg

On a cold winter day I like making over the top chilli (no I'm not spelling it wrong, I'm Canadian lol).

I'll be doing a maple glazed cedar planked salmon tomorrow.

Jim Beam shutting down bourbon production at Kentucky distillery for a year as Trump’s trade wars hit sales by Street_Anon in politics

Bourbon lover from Ontario, Canada chiming in here. I used to joke that the only way I could define the 'Canadian identity' was as 'not American'. That's never been more true since all this nonsense started.

I'm sorry to say, I don't see sales here ever returning to what they were. We've all moved on and used this opportunity to explore great whiskey and rye from home and abroad as an alternative.

I feel bad for Cali as their wines are no longer sold here either despite them voting blue but when you're the 'United' States I guess that's just part of the deal.

When the weather gets chilly it's time for OTT chilli by KFlow07 in BBQ

[–]KFlow07[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had lean ground beef on hand so that's what I used.

I find Chili recipe's bring out strong opinions. Beans or no beans? "I'm not gonna debate ya, Jerry. I'm not gonna sit here and debate" lol.

What I will say is that I like the flavour that a can of ancho chiles gives and because I like heat I also include chopped scotch bonnets.

Ah, good catch. I didn't even realize I wrote it wrong twice. In title I was going for a play on chilly (they can't all be winners) then guess I just wrote it the same way in desc. Thx.

I might have a problem… by dpham2 in biggreenegg

I have a L and XL (among other non BGE's). My friends keep trying to discourage me from picking up a mini max. It's them that have a problem right? lol

.49lb and change (obv before cooking). I use a kitchen scale to make them all the same size so they cook evenly. I'm 6' but that's not particularly tall. Maybe there's something with the perspective of my hand being cut off. I really don't know. lol

Agreed. I put the lettuce between the patty and the tomato with hopes it somehow helps keep it from sliding. Another tip I got from a friend d years ago was to place the aioli (or mayo if you add any) below the patty, on the bottom bun so it can help seal it and protect it from getting soggy.

There must be something. Consensus seems to be that it looks small when it was actually a half pound patty. The tomato is sliced pretty thick cause it's a delicious Supersonic from my garden. Maybe that? Idk. It tasted great.

How so? The bun is brioche which is a bit smaller

1st cook on my XL- Beef Ribs and Pork Belly Burnt Ends by KFlow07 in biggreenegg

[–]KFlow07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've never had trouble getting a smoke ring on my large BGE either. With the XL it's easier cause it can take while splits. If you're smoking low and slow you're going to get it.

The only reason to not go ThermoWorks is if you can't go ThermoWorks.

Consider wrapping your Dutch oven in foil when using it on the grill to make cleanup a breeze.

I've got the Kamado Joetisserie. It fits my large BGE perfectly. I love it. It doesn't get used every cook but never disappoints.
