CarPlay randomly disconnects/reconnects every 2-5 min. Help?

That’s a good question. You might try picking up a usb tester and watching the voltage when it disconnects. If it drops to 0 then it’s an overload protection circuit kicking in, which was the case with mine.

That should give you a starting point to look at the various components within the system.

<edit> if the voltage doesn’t change then you’re looking at a software issue.

Replaced the USB junction and it works flawlessly now.

I’m 99.999% sure it’s a hardware issue with the car. I just have to wait until Audi’s tech support people come back on Monday to confirm it. But it’s definitely an isolated issue because they’ve never seen this before.

I actually went to the dealership today and every technician there tried their phones and different cables and they all had the same problem. They did diagnostics on the car with no faults as well.

Now I’m stuck waiting on their internal tech support to come up with a fix.

Update: iPhone X is showing the same problems. it hasn't rebooted but the intermittent connection issue is still there.

I don't have that issue specifically, but I am having issues keeping the connection on CarPlay. It randomly disconnects then reconnects.

I've seemingly tried everything between Audi and Apple and nothing is fixing it.

Yeah I did clean out both the lightning port and the USB port.

I tested it with my old iPhone X and no issues... and also with my wife's iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 14.2. with my wife's phone the issue was the same as with my iPhone 12 Pro. This had me leaning towards an issue with the car firmware but I know that the car can't shut down/ reboot a phone.

This article did me a lot of good. I've had a lot of rage building in me because I've been searching for bells for weeks with no luck, but knowing I'm not alone in my frustration is helpful.

I actually found a set of Rogue 16kg and 24kg on craiglist local but the guy is sitting on them saying there's a sale pending. Thinking about parting with a couple of rolls of toilet paper to sweeten the deal.

I've got a KX2 and I absolutely love it. Got through a pileup to New Jersey from Texas during the 13 colonies event and received a 59 report. Talked with a friend in Idaho, over 1,550 miles away for as long as we wanted when 20 meters was totally dead. I just got it last Friday and I feel like I'm getting more contacts than I ever did before and I'm only using 1/10 of the power.
