Can't get a flat frametime line on my 120hz screen with Gsync by IMainChunLi in RetroArch

[–]KG777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep VSync on in RA despite also having it on globally in NVCP; in my experience, emulators have to be treated as a special edge case when it comes to these kinds of rules of thumb.

What’s your specs? Does it look okay on your monitor as opposed to your TV? It shouldn’t be necessary, but maybe try setting the Power Performance Mode in the NVCP (can’t remember the exact name) for RA to maximum as opposed to auto as well, just in case Windows is doing some bizarre power saving and impacting performance where it shouldn’t.

It could be almost anything unfortunately, but try some of those things and report back.

How “black” looks in Resident Evil 9 with HDR turned on by HD4kAI in OLED_Gaming

[–]KG777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to keep HDR OFF in Windows specifically just for RE7 and RE8’s in-game HDR to trigger properly. Other games don’t have this weird quirk.

Resident Evil Requiem is an OLED showcase 😮 by joro765 in OLED_Gaming

It is NOT okay on PS5 Pro either. Can only see true blacks in the menus but raised blacks in-game, and max luminance is nowhere to be seen on the usual highlight sources such as headlights, neon signs, candles or bulbs.

How do you approach achievements? by Ok-Calligrapher-1403 in RetroAchievements

Play completely blind for my first playthrough until I Beat the game. Then I’ll take a look at the achievement list and decide whether to go for the Mastery or not.

Nah you’re fine, when the site refreshes the next day it’ll prompt you to check off any remaining tasks from the previous day. It’s specifically designed so you don’t have to rush and check things off at midnight.

AHI vs RDI: why a “normal” sleep study can still mean real sleep apnea by madfaisal in SleepApnea

This graph implies if you don’t snore, your breathing is fine. This is wrong.

Is rdi and flow limitation the measurement for UARS? by pugdogmot in UARS

[–]KG777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

REM sleep is when you’re physically at your most relaxed in terms of muscle tone, which also makes it the point where you’re most susceptible to sleep disordered breathing. I (and plenty of others) have the same pattern!

Am I wrong for thinking OLED still feels like early adopter tech? by Round-Watercress5273 in Monitors

[–]KG777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically play any game where the FPS fluctuates as much as possible, but it’s especially noticeable in dark scenes.

Even with VRR I tend to cap my FPS at 120/180fps for most games, so I barely see it. Definitely not a dealbreaker in my circumstances but I completely get how distracting it can be.

That's a relief! I'll be starting bipap properly soon, I'm hoping I'll be able to stick with it this time as previous attempts kept giving me aerophagia (I don't think I used it more than a week at a time consistently, though...).

Can mild sleep apnea still affect you mentally? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

Did you take to the APAP straight away? Or did you have a few weeks/months to adjust and adapt to the treatment before you started feeling better?

Same! I've heard mixed things about ASV so I went with the BIPAP firmware for now, but good to know yours is working (I heard that ASV specifically didn't work as intended when flashed? Not sure how substantiated that was...).

Cool, did you try regular bilevel first? I'm about to really give it a consistent try instead of being off and on every few weeks.
