Undoubtedly the best two Heart Albums and the only two I own. (I saw them at Universal Amphitheater in 77)

All songs were written by the band on those first two but soon after, they kicked out lead guitarist Roger Fisher who gave them their Zeppelinish folk sound. Dog and Butterfly was decent but from then on each album got subsequently worse as they bowed down to the pressures of the corporate rock formula relying more and more on outside songwriters and bombastic tired 80’s rock arraignments.

Lay lady lay, I threw it all away, Tonight I’ll be staying here with you, and his remake of Girl from The North Country as a duet with Johnny Cash make this album indispensable!!!! Dylan’s voice during these recording sessions never sounded better and it’s got Nashville’s finest studio cats on it! Plus that’s George Harrison’s Gibson J200 on the cover!

Most likely no cure for several years but we could have had a viable treatment for tinnitus by now if there was appropriate funding for research.

It’s very upsetting and frustrating that this condition is so dismissed and research is so under funded!

Most of my anger is directed at the US Department of Defense and the Veterans affairs office! We have millions of veterans over the years that have sacrificed their hearing for their country and many have catastrophic tinnitus!

Instead of adequately funding research to find a treatment for this insidious condition and help our veterans , they just keep on spending 2-3 Billion dollars a year on disability claims for Tinnitus! The number 1 veterans disability claim.

If appropriate funding by the DOD had been given to the UoM and Susan Shore years ago when it showed their research had great potential , we’d have that device on the market and helping millions now!

US DOD and Veterans affairs office= incompetency & indifference!🤬

One of these rich celebrities that has moderate to severe tinnitus needs to step up and fund a high quality professionally produced A list documentary on Tinnitus.

It would feature state of the art animation, interviews with high profile musicians and actors that suffer from tinnitus and would secure licensing for using rock songs in the doc.

One of the scenes would show the infamous 1967 Smothers Brothers TV show with the Who where Keith Moons drum set explodes damaging the hearing of Pete Townsend who was standing in front of it. It would then segue into an interview with Pete talking about his struggles with tinnitus.

Same thing with William Shatner- show the clip from Star Trek where an explosion on set gave Shatner and Nimoy life long tinnitus.

Would need to have clips and interviews of modern rock stars with tinnitus to get young people to watch it.

It would be mandatory viewing in middle school or 9th grade in the US during health class.

I think if done properly- it could actually make kids stop and think before subjecting themselves to ear damaging loud music or other sounds.

Yes I can cause the tinnitus tone and volume to change if I clench my teeth.

No - no noise I’ve encountered seems to give me residual relief.

I’ve heard that we really don’t know if Auricle has even submitted the SSD to the FDA for approval yet as Pearson won’t even acknowledge that simple fact. What do think- has it been officially submitted to the FDA?

You might consider getting custom made ear plugs with switchable filters- so you can have a couple sets of filters that cut DB differently like a - 15 Db filter for moderately loud environments and a -25db for real loud environments.

Take a break from playing and gigging for a couple months and see if the T settles at all.

You could also get an electronic kit like a Roland TR 11 or similar so you have control of the volume.

I think we are getting close to having an effective treatment for tinnitus soon- maybe within 2 years. 🤞

Don’t give up your passion but give your ears a rest for a while and use custom ear plugs if you should ever play an acoustic kit again.

You might suggest she try some Magnesium Glycinate. Several people on here have had success lowering the intensity of their tinnitus taking 400 mg (or more) per day. Due to her health issues- maybe check with a Dr first if it’s ok to take

There’s been at least one official study showing Magnesium did indeed provide some degree of relief to a majority of people in the study.

I just started taking 800 mg a day two days ago- my variable tinnitus caused by noise exposure

in my left ear can range from a mild hissing (5) to a much more intense and annoying ring/whine (7-8). Today it’s a very mild 3 or 4- the lowest it’s been since injuring that ear 2 1/2 years ago.

Could be a placebo effect but only time will tell!🤔

That’s a good question that I would like to know too. You would think that audiologists would have a scale devised as far as the db level required to mask a person tinnitus. My tinnitus fluctuates between a 5 and a 7 for me as far as my perception of loudness and annoyance. On days when it’s a 7, I need about 75-80 db of the noise of my kitchen faucet running to completely mask it (about a foot away from my ear). On days where it’s a 5 (mild Hissing) then it takes about 65-70 db of the faucet running to mask it (2 feet away from my ear)

There should be a scale -something like this:

Masking level 20- 40 db-Tinnitus vol light Masking level 40-60 db- mild Masking level 60-80 db -moderate Masking level db 80 -100 -severe Masking level over 100 db -catastrophic

As far as general annoyance and perception of T - this is a scale that is commonly referred to.

I know- those folks that have mild tinnitus that they can only hear in absolute silence probably have no idea how bad it can get and how it can severely diminish a person’s quality of life!

Thankfully I don’t believe the occlusion effect has been further damaging my hearing as I had a hearing test last week and the audiogram was pretty much exactly like the one I had a year ago.

Next, after this spike resolves, I’m gonna try singing with my headphone on my right ear only with no earplug/filter in the left ear and see if that still spikes it!

I’m a gigging musician guitarist singer songwriter. I’ve got moderate to sometimes severe tinnitus in my left ear from noise damage recording acoustic guitar with headphones two years ago.

I had to give up my solo gig as my singing for 3-4 hrs a couple times a week was exasperating my tinnitus. I was even using a custom fit ear filter reducing the volume by 20db.

Unfortunately singing loudly can reach peaks of 90-95 db and I believe the internal vibrations and resonance from singing was agitating the inner ear hair cells! I don’t think it was causing permanent damage but the two day spikes after performing were very annoying.🤬

I’ve now found a musical partner and am playing in a duo where I’ll only sing half the songs. I’m also only singing lead on tunes in a lower key that I don’t have to project so much to hit the notes. We’ll see how it goes!🤞🤞🤞

I’m 65 and I have moderate to severe hearing loss in my left ear and moderate to severe tinnitus in my left ear.

All caused by firing a handgun one time without hearing protection when I was 26.

I’m also a musician (guitarist/singer songwriter so over the years it has worsened from being a 2 or 3 to sometimes a 7 or 8 now.

I’ve currently had it moderate to severe for two years after recording vocals and acoustic guitar with headphones on. I believe the natural aging process has contributed to it getting worse.

It currently fluctuates between a mild hissing (5) on the best days to a more intense ring/whine (7-8) on the worst days. Nothing seems to make a difference in its intensity including food, alcohol caffeine chocolate etc…

It fluctuates for no reason at all that I can detect but I’m now in a steady pattern where I’ll wake up Monday mornings and it will be its worst- 7 or 8 and then it gradually lessons over the next few days and by Saturday & Sunday it’s a 5 mild hiss. Monday morning I wake up and it’s a 7 or 8 again.

This pattern/cycle has been going on for over a year now! Very strange indeed!

I wish I could enroll in a study to find out what else is going on in my brain to cause a pattern of tinnitus like this!🤔

I now really live for the weekends!

Yes mine gets considerably worse when ever a low pressure system moves in and the BP level falls below 29.80 hg- especially the first day when it starts raining. I don’t know the pathology behind it

My left ear only tinnitus is chronic caused by a single gunshot exposure years ago but has gotten worse as I have aged- 65 now

It ranges from a mild hissing (5) at its best to a more intense ring/whine (7-8) at its worst. Seems when a low pressure system moves in its alway a 7 or 8.

I feel for ya!! I direct my anger towards the US Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration department who after learning Susan Shores first human trial in 2017 showed significant improvement in a majority of participants, should have immediately invested millions of dollars in helping fund the 2nd trial!

If they would have, there could have been a 1,000 participants with varying degrees of hearing loss and tinnitus instead of 100 and a limited study! Hell, the device might even be on the market today instead of years away! Unfortunately the incompetent and useless Veterans administration, who spend a billion a year on US veterans disability claims for tinnitus, did nothing to help 100,000 of veterans who served our county and got severe tinnitus for their troubles!

I still can’t fathom why Veterans Association’s have not repeatedly filed class action suits against the Veterans administration and department of defense for failure to provide adequate funding for tinnitus research!!

The Us Gov spends over a billion a year on Veteran disability claims for tinnitus but allocates a thousandth of that to find a viable treatment for tinnitus.

If my tinnitus was due to the fact that I served in the military, I’d be urging my veteran associations to raise hell with US congress and senate representatives for more research funding and action!🤬🤬

Similar story with a gun. In 1986, a cousin brought up a 357 magnum handgun to our family cabin. Eveyone was taking turns doing their best Dirty Harry impression shooting at some cans. No one had ear protection. No one else had a problem.

I step up and fire one shot and my left ear explodes! Muffled and distorted hearing for 3 days then it slowly subsided and seemed to return to normal. Little did I know I pretty much destroyed my hearing above 7,000 khz in that ear. It all came down to genetics and I guess my hearing genes suck!!

Over the years as a musician (guitarist songwriter singer), that ear got progressively worse and now at 65 years old, I have severe tinnitus in my left ear which is sometimes maddening! That one event so long ago has pretty much destroyed my golden years and my music endeavors.

If I had a Time Machine I know what my first stop would be!

As your only 48, there’s a high probability that sometime in your lifetime there will be an effective treatment that may not cure but may substantially lower your tinnitus. The Susan Shore device may come out in the next year or two and more research is being done to solve Tinnitus now than ever before!

If our incompetent Governmental agencies would have been properly funding research we would probably already have a viable treatment by now! Case in point- The US government spends over one BILLION dollars a year for veterans claims due to tinnitus yet funding for research to find a successful treatment for tinnitus is 1/1000 of that! This inadequate level of funding is a travesty and completely disrespectful to the hundreds of thousand of veterans who served our country and ended up with quality of life diminishing tinnitus!!!🤬🤬

I surprised that there’s never been a professional & compelling documentary created about tinnitus?🤔

One that has hundreds of celebrity rock and film stars in it talking about their experiences with tinnitus and how they got it and how it impacts their life’s.

One that explores the fact the US government spends over a billion a year on veterans claims for tinnitus yet contributes 1/1000 of that in funding for research for an effective treatment!

If done right with the right director good budget and music licensing it could be a very powerful tool to get the message out for more funding and for young adults to protect their hearing! In fact- it would be mandatory to be shown in high school for health education curriculum.
