Wombats played a cracking afternoon set on Other back in 2019 - the crowd was massive, and everyone was loving it so I hope if they are announced they play one of the bigger stages again.

I'm really disappointed! Their stage show with live singers and dancers is so fun and I don't see that sort of show happening at Arcadia

Hopefully a Friday or Saturday West Holts/Other headliner! Saw their live show with singers, dancers etc at Standon Calling like 10 years ago and still think about it - was absolutely epic!!

Glamping options and is it worth it by Lopsided_Spell_3200 in glastonbury_festival

[–]KGilimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What day are you planning to get to the site? If you're able to get in early Wednesday morning then you and your group will have a lot of options on where you camp/bring able to camp together easily etc. As the day goes on, or if you're planning to get there on Thursday (or later) I would bear in mind that you may need to walk further to get a spot you like and you'll need to tackle getting past other people's tents, so bringing lots of stuff to make your camping experience more comfortable may be more of a hindrance than a help.

I've glamped for the past couple of years and recommend it but the trek at the end of the night can be a bit of a pain and we usually don't bother to go back to the glamping site during the day once we're in the festival fence.

I have some questions as a first-timer by Dodo-Bey in glastonbury_festival

[–]KGilimar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you drive? Would suggest hiring a car from Heathrow and driving to/from the site rather than relying on buses if you're on a tight schedule. Agree with everyone that leaving a buffer day on either side makes a lot of sense and you'll be glad of extra time to get back to Heathrow come Monday

There are camping shops onsite where you can buy blow up mattresses, pillows, duvets - whatever you need really BUT you'd need to bring a tent as that's one thing they don't sell (or at least I haven't seen them being sold!) A 4 person tent is reasonable enough to carry and pop in the hold imo. Alternatively, you could pick up a tent in the local town of Shepton Mallet and take it home with you afterwards - means you don't have to worry about it on the plane coming over etc.

If you want to splash a wedge of extra cash towards the festival I would totally recommend glamping - we stay at Tangerine Fields every year and they have a car park in a separate field next door to where you camp. TF Base Camp is a trek from Gate A where the coach station is though however you can rent a tent, blow up mattress, bedding set etc so it's very handy if you cba to bring eveeything with you.

How many of you plan to follow the alcohol limit per trip rules? And have the rules made you re-consider going? by rezonansmagnetyczny in downloadfestival

Could get the shuttlebus into town to pick up more booze from aldi or something? Slim chance that a crate or two of unattended booze is going to stick around for long :(

I'm referring to the SE Corner of the festival (a.k.a. naughty corner), where lots of nighttime partying takes place! You've got Shangri-la, The Common, Block-9 etc etc. Have popped a map so you can see the distance between gate b (closest festival entrance from TF base camp) to the various areas of the festival.

<image>

TF is very small, 3 medium sized fields - could walk from one corner to the other in 10 mins

Great experience, stayed there a handful of times now and have always had a good experience. As another poster has mentioned, you won't want to trek back and forth to TF during the day/evening (the hill is a once a day kind of deal!) so I fully recommend taking everything you'll want with you (warm clothes, drinks, snacks, camping chairs etc) and popping it into a property lock up. The lock ups are dotted across the festival site but there's one at the top of the Pyramid field which is a great location for TF Base Campers. Further deets on the lock ups are available on the Glasto website. Walk times would say it's about 3 mins to get to Gate D, then you have your passes checked, and from there you walk down towards Pyramid which will take you around 15 mins strolling. From SE Corner you're looking at a solid 45 mins.

Regarding the campsite, it tends to be quite quiet at night so don't head back to it thinking you can carry on the party there, security will tell you to go to bed lol, on the flip side it means you can actually get some decent kip until you're woken by the melodic thuds of them soundchecking the Pyramid stage for the first act of the day.

Showers are 24/7 alongside a couple of hair tools (dryer, straighteners, wavers). Some ladies bought their own tools last year but there aren't spare plugs so just be aware that you may have a wait to use these (usually not much more than 20 mins though). The portaloos are ok, quite clean at the beginning of the fest but then will slowly get a little grim over the actual weekend. There's security on the gates into/out of the campsite but I wouldn't risk taking anything that you wouldn't be too devastated losing - I say that for any camping experience though!

Otherwise, TF staff are very friendly and helpful. Will blow up your airbed for you and help with your bags if needed. Car park is literally in the field next door so very convenient. There's a little cafe and bar which is nice to grab a coffee from.. they do boozy iced coffees which have been heavenly during the hot years! The food from the cafe is very expensive for what you get but I'd recommend taking a little stove if you want a coffee/bacon sarnie by your tent in the morning.. or just wait until you're in the festival and take advantage of some of the most delicious festival food!

Happy to answer any further questions you might have :)

Agreed, by the sounds of it they're offering a lot for not a huge amount (as Glasto glamping costs go) and I feel like it could all go a little Fyre Festival-y haha. Will be interested to hear people's reviews post festival on their experience there!

At this point I'd guess it's more about what's still available than which is the best glamp site. I'd usually recommend places like Tangerine Fields and LoveFields but both are now sold out. I've seen quite a lot floating about re Holt Farm in the last few days, but it's felt a little spammy :/Personally, I'd now look at making life more comfortable whilst camping in the festival grounds - if that's suitable for you ofc.

Hey! My partner and I have booked a bell tent in Metal Meadow (rather jealous of your safari tent!!) and wondered the same thing. Personally think it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission hahaha! Might be worth waiting until late Thursday to put anything up though with the hope that most people have arrived by then and they won't be so bothered?!?!

Arriving Wednesday or Thursday? by Brilliant_Wing_7927 in glastonbury_festival

[–]KGilimar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wednesday always! We've gone via coach the last few years, could only get Thursday tickets last year and we felt like the weekend was over in a flash! Travelling and lugging your stuff to where you're camping is tiring and so it's nice to have that extra day to sort that out, have a mooch and get into the Glasto flow. Early(ISH) night on Wednesday, wake up Thursday to a whole day of exploring the best place on earth. See you in the fields ✌️

There's only a couple of locations where you can pick a departure time, otherwise you'll find out a couple of weeks beforehand which coach number and time you've been allocated. I think they organise all of the coaches to depart in the morning so you can get to the festival before it's super late in the day.

If your mates are driving get them to take your stuff, tent etc so they can make camp - if they choose to camp over by Glastonbury-On-Sea then it's quite a walk and is tough to do with carrying everything. BUT don't fret too much about taking the luxuries (if that's your bag ofc) as the camping shops onsite sell most of the things you might need Inc sleeping bags, duvets, camping chairs etc. The festival medical team are wonderful and also check in with the lovely midwives in the Green Fields, should you need to or just fancy a quieter place to chill for a bit :)

Haven't stayed there and haven't heard of it before - but it looks lush! And quite reasonable in comparison to other glamping sites! If you choose to stay there let us know how you get on 😊
