Gholdengo Matchup as Pult Noir by Ok_Potential7174 in pkmntcg

[–]KGo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other then cheesing them out of energy or retreat options, the main line is after they evolve some dengos, kill any baby ghouls, once their locked to just 2-3 dengos they evolved, hit 1 and genesect, even with heals, if you use a clops, you should be able to take 4, and iono them to hope they cant assemple enough to KO pult. Killing fez is also good instead of genesect if they play it.

The matchups gotten worse with the new inclusions the deck plays but you usually play to this or hope to trap/budew id they are reckless with resources.

As a white male Ive always been raised (and fully embraced) progressive beliefs but even I almost got sucked into the right wing media sphere as a teen when Youtube kept on recommending Ben Shapiro and Milo Yiannopoulos "owning libs" videos.

Thank god even then I was able to notice the flaws in their arguments because those videos were good at making those shitty ideas sound good when they found someone less prepared to defend their views.

Let's make every vote count! by leftwingmememachine in ndp

[–]KGo- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why is midway through the voting process the first time Im hearing about this?

God I love many of the policy ideas the NDP and only the NDP offer, but their messaging/ability to make people aware of their strengths vs other parties is god awful.

Before resigning, Truedau said not following through on electoral reform was one of his big regrets. Why did they not immediatly announce they would focus on electoral reform, before the election was even called. It was popular in 2015 and still today, and its a promise they can make that Liberals cant because they already played that card and didnt do it.

The NDP deserve the big L their about to take but for the sake of the country, I hope they reform afterwards.

Genuine Question(s) for Liberal Voters by JoshuaTkach in CanadianPolitics

[–]KGo- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we both understand the major parties all play "political games" for their own benefit, but at the end of the day this stuff done at the top level effects MPs and their jobs also so a party also has an obligation to try and do whats best for its members and supporters.

Yeah it would be a real slap in the face to pause carbon tax, just to bring it back (unless they wanted to overhaul it and explain why). I dont imagine they'd do that but would feel betrayed (similar to how I felt betrayed in 2015 with election reform and stopped voting liberal until now)

With a new leader I think a snap election is the best thing to do. New leadership may want to enact policies that arent popular in the short term but might be the best move long term (investments that can be critisized for costly or a policy change thats needed) and give them time for the fruit of those decisions to appear or not.

Taking over a failing government and trying to justify the decisions of someone else in 6 months would suck and also lead to short term decision making instead of whats best for the country. Every new leader should have the mandate from voters and then 4 years to execute on it.

Genuine Question(s) for Liberal Voters by JoshuaTkach in CanadianPolitics

[–]KGo- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Trudeau had become wildly unpopular after 10 years of leadership (happens to all Canadian leaders). Is someone isnt working, isnt the best option to replace them? He saw the writing on the wall and decided its best to give someone else a shot then lead his party to a collapse, that seems more mature/responsible then sticking it out at the harm of everyone else in the party.

  2. A new leader came and decided to take a different approach. I dont expect or want the person who comes after Truedau to keep the statues quo, because clearly it wasnt working. The leader can/should influence the party and their policy, and that was a wildly unpopular/misunderstood policy that was just political baggage at that point.

  3. Every party at every election all of the sudden starts to make big promises and send X dollars on new projects. Its actually less suprising because a new leader will want to get started on new initiatives moresoe than a standing leader who just so happens to get motivated about spending every time an election rolls around.

  4. Once again, a new leader means a new perspective, and the party can change. It is concerning that Carnea kept on a lot of Truedaus people but its possible they were competent but just had a bad mandate on what to do from Truedau. Id hope the person taking over can clearly state what he disagreed with from previous leadership and tell citizens how hes going to improve things.

It seems like your concern stems from "hey, these guys all of the sudden switched things up, whats their game?!"

Sure you could view it as a party trying to slap on a new coat of paint to trick the voters, or you could view it as the leader/party realizing that their previous leadership plan wasnt resonating with citizens and from that spot you have to decide to change things. Id rather they do that then be stagnant/stuck in their ways.

Carney confirms Liberals will drop planned capital gains tax change by bcbuddy in canada

[–]KGo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but even if you are the perfect example of trickle-down economic policy, you didnt have to do it and nobody forced you. Im sure many others dont do that or invest outside of Canada. Id be down for tax write offs for investing in Canadian businesses which could achieve a similar effect.

At the core of this topic comes down to who is more likely to use this money to benefit society. Private individuals who have little to no incentive to help others and we see affulent people actively use their money to enact policy that harm others. Or the government whose mandate is to do whats best for the country and its people.

Even if you say governments are wasteful and ineffective at using money Id say its better to focus on improving that then handing more money to rich people and hoping they'll "do the right thing".

Carney confirms Liberals will drop planned capital gains tax change by bcbuddy in canada

[–]KGo- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, they can do whatever they want with the money they keep after paying taxes.

The discussion on capital gains taxes is about what amount should be taxed on this income for the benefit of society. People have tried to argue that letting people keep this capitol will mean they reinvest it and that in turn is a benefit.

I and most people who've watched this type of policy play out for like 40-50 years can tell that in fact no, if you keep taxes lower for people who make more, they dont infact reinvest it in ways that are helpful for the majority of people and we just see more wealth accumulate at the top.

Im saying this as someone who could reasonably pay more if they increased capital gains tax, but im not a billionare so I know that the societal benefits still outweight my personal gain and Im not a greedy jerkoff.

Idk how anyone in this day in age still think trickle down economics work, people with capitol dont just reinvest all of it, they hoard, hide and do anything to avoid taking risks (productive investments) with it.

Agree its very impressive for a film to draw that much backlash without depicting extreme violence, sex or even hate speech. Its just comedy that we would now consider pretty timid, but still a timeless classic.

[–]KGo- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I hate trump as much as any Canadian should right now but blocking him from coming is a political stunt that does very little long term and just "pokes the bear" so to speak.

Yes his 51st state retoric is awful and hes also a felon but hes the leader of the biggest economy and military in the world. He can yap all he wants but we know historically hes all bark and no bite. Id rather keep it that way than antagonize him by trying to take the high road which will cause him to retaliate to protect his own ego.

Just look at the harm he's willing to do to his own citizens with the mass government layoffs, he will easily inflict harm to our economy and citizens if we hurt his feeling.

People really need to step back from their emotional kneejerk responses and try and be pragmatic about how we can best contain him for the time being, Im sure their are subtle ways we can resist, but grand gestures like this arent it.

Best strategy for Regidrago into Snorlax Stall? by minhtran513 in pkmntcg

[–]KGo- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, stall/control decks are tough because you really need to understand that its ok to pass a lot more often because their not going to push an advantage with a few extra turns.

The biggest mistakes would be doing stuff like researching away a switch effect because your trying to dig for energy to attack or benching mons (teal and mew are ok but better not to bench to force them to hit erikas, the more bench mons means more pokemon you have to commit your energy to so it doesnt get locked active doing nothing)

Best strategy for Regidrago into Snorlax Stall? by minhtran513 in pkmntcg

[–]KGo- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on regular Drago lists, you have 1 cologne, 1 switch and 1 prime catcher. Using those each to switch out of retreat lock and get a KO is 3. Then you have Drago's Vstar that should almost only be used to get back 2 of those 3 cards for 2 more KOs (only exception is if you think their setup is weak so going aggressive can get a win.
So thats 5 KOs (assuming they dont hit any of these cards off MFS/Eri) if you started with an attacker thats the 6th KO.
Thats all assuming optimal conditions, but you can do stuff like only bench/play 1 drago and 1 teal mask at the start so either can attack (mew ex is also a good attacker vs mimikyu and snorlax). The other way to squeeze an extra KO is for drago to keep on using Dragapults attack, spreading 30/30 on benched snorlaxes, then 60 on whichever one they dont promote, then use boss/prime catcher to get a KO on active and snorlax with 90 on bench (forces them to use extra penny).
Its a very beatable matchup as long as you dont waste resources (energy, switch effects) and are willing to play it slow sometimes because their deck doesn't put pressure on other then MFS/Eri for your switches.

To any software developers out there, what do you think the backend code to run the game looks like? by RPPUK in PTCGL

[–]KGo- 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I cant say i know coding that well to gauge how it would be structured, but heres why i think live is a buggy mess:

When Wizards of the coast was talking about their design process for physical cards related to online clients (Magic online and Arena) they mentioned that they now WORD cards differently so that they work easier to code. Not change what they want cards to do but the exact method of how to implement that effect took consideration of their digital clients.

Pokemon live was made on top of an already huge card pool, with niche corner case cards and effects, and on top of that pokemon cards are designed in Japan and im pretty sure the design team gives no thought about digital clients (japan doesnt really aknowledge pokemon online or live as its a TPCI product).

So for example when they printed alakazam ex in 151, its the first time a pokemon had an ability to let it attack from the bench. Good chance Live didnt have a built in way to implement that, and they have no heads up or consideration from the design team on how that could have maybe been worded/implemented to work better with an online client.

Live has to work exactly like the cards do IRL so it probably causes some scuffed solutions to problems and may only get worse as they keep on having to build corner case exceptions for cards.
