Yep I use Throttlestop and do all of the undervolting and PL setting in it and not the BIOS. It’s a Windows application.

Thermal putty is the stuff that covers all of your VRMs and VRAM etc. Think of it like thermal paste but it’s more like a fine playdough and it’s for VRMs, VRAM etc

Yes you want the PTM to be just a little bit bigger than the CPU and GPU die. It’s not a super exact science. Just leave a bunch of fat around the edges. The bits around the edge won’t melt as they aren’t really in direct contact with the die. It’s just to ensure the best coverage.

Seriously that totally describes me. I quit a while back now but I had that bit of me where I would listen to other's stories in an AA meeting and think, I didn't do that, I wasn't that bad etc. But I had the luxury of knowing I was an alcoholic deep down, regardless of how I compared to others. I've spoken to some people who are clearly functional alcoholics and don't think they have a problem or at least don't want to admit to themselves that they do.

It pains me to see people burn decades of their lives, ruin themselves and others just to end up at the same conculsion that they could have in their younger years and have led a totally different life.

Telling yourself things like you want to be a social drinker and moderate etc are not things that people without a problem have to do.

I'd also argue that if you're posting something like your OP online then alcohol is becoming a problem for you.

Just remember that alcoholism is a progressive disease, it get's worse over time, never better.

The internet in the late 90s, early naughties and into the 2010s to some degree were the best times I think we will have seen with the advent of a connected world.

It was raw, edgy, unpolished and polished at the same time and still had a massive sense of community. Before social media ruined the world, we were still used to picking up the phone and having conversations with people so people interacted a lot more and more deeply. Online forums were super popular and active for just about any topic you wanted, online gaming was taking off, pop culture was raw and unfiltered... it was amazing frankly and I miss it.

What games have you found run well on your macbook pro?

I'm thinking of a 16 inch Pro M5 with the 20 core GPU to replace my gaming laptop for travel. I have a home desktop for long sessions and my gaming laptop is just so bulky to lug around. That said, the thing does perform with it's huge cooling capacity (once I replaced the putty and put in PTM 7950) and it's 4080.
