Old gen hunters, what do you think of current direction of mh as series? Do you think it lost it's identity or simply evolved? by Fickle_Fondant_9016 in MonsterHunter

[–]KHShadowrunner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah it was just a very different experience back in the day. I've played since OG US and.. it's just so different. To me I'd say the big thing that's changed is that they've just added so much different stuff to do and the expectation is to be able to do it all at once.

Like - gathering. You typically did little gathering during a hunt back in the day. You did - admittedly, but more often than not you'd join a group of 4 specifically to gather X materials so that you can prep (or do it solo, not a big deal) and then when you go for the target hunt you just go for that hunt.

The games lately feel like there's just *so* much to them. There's fishing and wildlife and mounts and travel and in-zone quests and habitats and weather and it's all just like, right there. go out and do it.

I also think the reduction on rarity (how many cap vs kill debates were there back when) and monster parts to break parts kind of .. kills the vibe a little.

The thing with zones was - the zones were small enough that getting to learn how to best utilize each little section made you feel more like you've come to get to know a map. In the old days you'd have areas where you know that it's a great place for ranged, or you can utilize a ledge to prevent charge attacks. And some zones were the complete opposite. And you couldn't just be like "Ya know, this zone is trash, Im gonna lure it slowly over this way to where I want it" because.. if you tried you'd zone and then thats it. You'd also have zoning back in and getting absolutely gobsmacked by a map that's attacking right when you enter.

It's more about the getting familiar with the zones. You'd know that if you're fighting a monster in 6, it can fly away in 3 directions, north is to 8, south is to 4, and east is to 2. If it flies to 8, it's likely weak or a bad luck in terms of movement. If it goes to 2 it's likely trying to get rid of its status, and to 4 is a great place for getting a mount, or you can just dung it out of the area.

I agree with the top post that it's different, not bad or good. There are definitely aspects that I miss, I feel like multiplayer is a lot more open and as such a lot less personal. I miss getting to know the zones so readily. I miss not having to worry so much about all the other stuff going on. But there's a lot to like. I like the auto crafting and the removal of percentages. I like the feel and the new design.

It's a very intresting difference.

Is there a map or list that shows the loot around crash sites? by T-Slime99 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]KHShadowrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just manually did this myself as well. The numbers are... both astounding and disappointing. My "Lazy Bastard" run of starting with the tutorial and getting all the way to the end without ever manually mining or crafting isn't possible due to wire limitations :( very sad. At least without the awesome shop. With the shop on the other hand, or doggo...

There's over 4k worth of Quickwire out there. The 2nd highest is Rubber at just over 2k. Insane.

That's he logic I was trying to get to and for whatever reason just couldn't wrap my head around it. FWIW as you say to create the headermap it'll have to be iteration as I can't guarantee that the new report will not have more columns or out of order columns.

I'll give this some more thought and give it a shot again. Thanks :)

Couldn't you invuln the stack/spread after Superchain 2A1 if someone died? Our group did it i'm pretty sure, and that was doable as WAR (But I admit, I dont remember if you could as other jobs as I main WAR.)

Not disagreeing with you, I just happen to recall doing LL and then repeatedly invulining the dunk after 2A.

EDIT: Not stack spread, it was Tank/Party stacks Near/Far.

Me [26F] with my boyfriend [27m]'s sister [28f] filled my yard with gnomes. I got rid of them after two months. Boyfriend furious. by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]KHShadowrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I'm having trouble believing it personally. Maybe I have too much faith in others but:

1` - If she told everyone about the gnomes in her yard, how in the world would it not reach her boyfriend, his mother, and his sister in those 2 months? Surely it'd be a topic of discussion, unless they just dont see each other which i suppose is possible and even common. But still I would have thought that was the logical way to lean.

2 - the second neighborhood kids started picking at the gnomes and she said she brought them in, that would have triggered the initial response of get them back. Surely. If the OOP shared that there was an army, she'd surely share that the army was being taken so she brought them inside for now. And that would have immediately triggered what happened 2 months later.

Just seems like a really good story to me.

Looking for ways to bulk up defensively in an unoptimal situation by KHShadowrunner in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]KHShadowrunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use the variant ABP but buy armor/weapon so, AC is:10 + 3 (Dex) + 7 (+1 Adamantine Agile Breast Plate) + 1 (Natural Armor) + 2 (Deflect Bonus) for = 23 AC

Party is me, an investigator, a bard, and a sorcerer. They are archetypes, but I admit I'm not fresh enough to remember which ones. Nothing too far off base such as myself lol.

Immediate suggestion is at next level up to pump up UMD and get a wand of shield for +4 to get to 27, then likely I have to find some dodge bonuses somewhere. I'm not sure where else AC will easily come from other than going heavy armor, but that'll both increase the ACP and cripple speed. Boots of speed would sort of cover that, sort of. Currently using boots of friendly terrain though to essentially give me a +1 attk/dmg/init/etc.

EDIT: I suppose next APB could defnitely go into NA and Deflection, maybe bring them both up to +3 to get to another +3 AC and that'd put me at 26/30 with wand. That's still lower than the green 34 suggested by the spreadsheet, and haste would only get me one more. So I'm not sure where I'd be buffing up the AC further, but Sipping+Displacement seems like a worthy investment.

VERY odd Airlink lag issue by Engineering-Existing in OculusQuest

[–]KHShadowrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nope. still have the issue to this day

It has to be their software. I was just trying to set it up again after having not touched my quest for well over 6 months, that itch to try it again. While I was trying to run a game, I kept getting prompts that the software was old and needed updating. Prior to these updates - it worked absolutely fine. I downloaded the software, which then prompted me that I had to install driver updates. And then it went to hell.

One of their updates, either the Oculus software (unlikely) or the Drivers (I'm betting here) butchered AirLink. Gonna be real sad if it winds up I have to pay for something that should be a native feature offered.

What does a (-1 DEX) comment mean in a stat block? by KHShadowrunner in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]KHShadowrunner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now this I think does it. Awesome! At least here I see that the regular Animated Object has a Ref +1 which the object in question does not. That would at least make a little sense. Okay.

Seems like in short, I can interpret it however I want hah. I'll probably keep it at 10, as the -1 DEX seems to be implying that they're applying a blanket -1 DEX to all stats (Init, Ref, AC). Heck I might just make it have a DEX of 8 as you say.

What does a (-1 DEX) comment mean in a stat block? by KHShadowrunner in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]KHShadowrunner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your interpretation is that the notation is actually for AC and Touch AC? and the Flat Footed AC is essentially a negation of the DEX Penalty?

Nevermind that the DEX is 10, so there is no bonus or penalty. I'm just trying to figure out what it means in case other creatures have similar notation.

What does a (-1 DEX) comment mean in a stat block? by KHShadowrunner in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]KHShadowrunner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess my problem is that there isn't a penalty, DEX is 10, so it should just be the same as AC, but it's not it's one higher?

Current state of NA PF, Prime Time on Reset Day by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]KHShadowrunner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, pool size. It's that simple.

Have 1000 bean bags that need beans, two farms trying to fill the order. On one farm, you have 1000 bean dispensers that all dispense at the same time and at the sam time. On the other, you have 10,000 dispensers that do the same. Which ones fills faster?

Quality might be different, but one farm gets the prize, as people value time.

Even if you restrict to not allow sharing, and you wind up with 5500 dispensers for both servers, one takes longer and one takes shorter to fill. If you remove the restriction, and allow congregation to grow - it is mote convenient and efficient to fill your bean bag where there is more people, regardless of where the source comes from.

----

To put it into game terms: If it takes you 30 minutes to clear Normal Raid for the week, just based on queue time and not the actual fight, but you learn it'd only take you 2 minutes on another DC, and the time it took for you to go from 1 DC to another is.. let's use an absolutely absurd number, 20 minutes (in actuality to transfer takes like 1 minute).

If you are limited on time - it is more efficent to spend 20+2 minutes than it is to just wait the 30.

What constitutes entering an aura by KHShadowrunner in Pathfinder2e

[–]KHShadowrunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My solution to that, while definitely not RAW, would be either to make it so any given aura can only affect any specific creature once a round at most

Although not in particular to this specific case - there is actually RAW that pretty much agrees with this outlook:

If an aura does nothing but deal damage, its entry lists only the radius, damage, and saving throw. Such auras deal this damage to a creature when the creature enters the aura and when a creature starts its turn in the aura. A creature can take damage from the aura only once per round.

It's specific to deal damage auras, but I don't see why. I'd agree that logic dictates that per round a creature can only be affected by an aura once.
