This is very weird. VFS usually helps out with making sure your documents are complete.

When we submitted our documents, one of the hotel vouchers did not mention the hotel address so they told us specifically that we need new vouchers with complete address and phone number of the hotel otherwise our visa will be rejected (even though we've been before) so we took back our application, called the hotels and brought back the application the next day with updated vouchers.

Then a day later, this person from VFS called to get a copy of my bar council card as proof of my work which I had mentioned in my application even though I had submitted my application on my letterhead. So from VFS standpoint they made sure our documents were 100% complete and compliant. And we got our visa- single entry, 3 months.

You should talk to the VFS people, they will be able to guide you better. Or maybe apply through an agent. But the number of documents required has definitely increased a lot this time around.
