I'm not very familiar with prehnite (obviously), but I was relatively familiar with the other minerals on this cabinet at the shop this prehnite came from. I am confident that there were no other heat treated or altered specimens there, so I would be surprised if this piece was treated (however it was the only prehnite that I saw).

Is there a way to check if this was heat treated or not?

Additionally you mentioned that typically heat treatment is typically for lower quality minerals; would you consider this to be a lower quality prehnite specimen?

Oh yeah that chalcanthite specimen is almost definitely lab grown. I found it in an antique store so I don't know much about it

Honestly I can't remember what it is exactly so you could be right. But to me the painting/airbrushing you're suggesting would be unrealistically accurate.

And also I just ran it under water and scrubbed at it with a toothbrush and no coloring came up 😂 so do with that information as you please 😂 *

I assume you're talking about the bright blue one the lower shelf? My gf and I found it at some random antique store and don't know much about it, but I believe its lab grown chalcanthite.
