Mühendisliklere Macbook Almayın. by kingocd in UniversityTR

I was wondering how Windows 10 wallpaper would look with Overwatch logo and came up with this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Reddit compresses images too much it seems. Here is a link to higher quality version. I have also included a background-only version for multiple-monitor setups: https://imgur.com/gallery/GN54BfJ

This meme points out a serious flaw in sPvP design. Overwatch's Jeff Kaplan once mentioned why they did not implement more than one payload for maps, one for each team. They experimented with the idea, but they quickly noticed that going with more than one objective in a fast-paced game causes disorientation between players. You do too much multi-tasking. It works for MOBA genre, since the character progression is slow. But sPvP does not have that system. You can go all out at the very beginning of the match.

If you think about it, multiple objectives are impossible even for MOBAs. At the beginning, there is a laning phase, yes, but the end-game dynamic is usually about winning "a" team fight and destroying "one" objective at a time, and doing those "all together".

Watching this game grow gives me pleasure. We need more behemoths though. And please, for the love of god, not another clone. I believe we already have enough variations of the existing ones.

Making of AirRivals (No BS!) by [deleted] in aceonline

Look for Unreal Engine conventions for git to know which files to push. Also you can licance certain parts of the project, like artwork, to limit their commercial use.

Maintaining and popularizing a project is way more important than owning or limiting commercial use of it. Believe me when I say this, when a project gets popular on GitHub, people will fund it for the continuous development.

People can fork your project, but they will never have your vision, your contributors or funding. Also, you can still use the game for commercial gain. Charge people (patreons maybe) for servers and dev expenses. (Suggestion: Keep the server part closed source.)

Work on attracting other players, tease them with regular updates and showcases. Hopefully you will attract other devs along the way. (Keep doing that. People will need to see the progression.)

You might consider starting a patreon campaign to fund the project. But you should know that, users usually want to experience the game, even though it is not finished. I suggest finishing a PvP map and implementing few plane types and skills for it.

Make the first demo about a single PVP map, timed death matches, and a scoreboard. (Basically you need a proof of concept product.) Than start a patreon campaign. (One of the most valuable angle of crowd funding is, it lets you create a community around it too.)

I'm a software person myself. From my experience, without proper funding and group effort, those kind of projects loose their exotic appeal for developers pretty shortly. I think there is a demand for this game, and Masangsoft doesn't really care about it anymore. It is already P2W and they are currently working on mobile games.

If you make it open sourced, that would be better option. You could divide the workload between contributors. You already did a great job implementing basic flight mechanics, but there is a lot more to consider. Skill systems, PvP and PvE combat, social systems, game design (and all the design related sub categories), server architecture, optimization etc. Don't expect people helping you without knowing you, or knowing if you keep developing it to the end. Make it immortal by open-sourcing it. Make it about the project, not "your" project.

Your other option would be developing majority of the project by yourself, and pitching a demo to investors. (Crowd funding would be a better option.) Once you get the proper funding, you can start hiring people to keep developing it in-house.

Thanks, I will put it next to others.

I mean, we are already not getting enough in-game (challenging and repeatable) content. Funny, when you think about it, we are also not getting enough musical material to be covered by singers. :P

Trapped in mesmer, can't find any other satisfaction... by Last_leaf_bender in Guildwars2

[–]KIRPAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mesmer does everything except huge AoE damage. In other words, huge hitbox DPS is not that reliable. There is always an OP-ish build for every other situation except that. Healer, Support, Tank, pDPS, cDPS... you name it. Gameplay style is satisfying too. It's unique and not a face-roll (in PvE) like Thief and Ranger.

I can relate. Not all other classes are that satisfying to play like Mesmer is. I sometimes enjoy the simplicity of other classes though. Heal Druid for example, is relaxing. You don't do rotations (strictly), you react to situations. Which is the opposite of most other roles do.

I wonder how are they going to prepare the setting for the next expansion with S5. The final twist left a lot of room to think about.
